The guy on the news earlier said it was a whirl pool that opened up in the north part of japan ... nothing to do with the flow of water back into the ocean. But that is was in the ocean ... so i don't know really haven't heard anything else about it.

Nice footage. At the last minute you can see a vessel out there near the "eye".

eddy current as a result of milllons of tonnes of displaced water swirling about structures and geography.

think of the swirls you see around the piers and supports of bridges on a fast flowing(deep) river and magnify by about 10 orders of magnitude.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1104102

This.

As the water rushes in, it hits the walls and changes direction. But since there is still more than usual water
flowing in from the sea, it lasts long enough to create this 'vortex' structure. It will go as soon as the flow decreases.

But it is a huge one, to be sure.

The poster from Turkey answered correctly. It's a natural phenomena when huge amounts of water is displaced around a man made barrier, the jetty. By the way, people...quick relying on the images of CNN, they loop them to make them seem like their longer events. One of the reasons why I stopped watching cable news.

I have heard of vortex spirals in the oceans in Greek mythology. The same kind of stuff with Atlantis being pulled under the sea.Just all to real now.

Yeah when the video first starts you can see on the bottom right side of the screen that there was water being pushed into the port with massive force. Freaking eerie looking, yet beautiful...

If it was as simple as that it would not form such a perfect "eye"...it would be a loose looking circular pool of water with eddy flows in it.

It is a sign showing that the whole solar system is being pushed in the center of a dwarf star. This warnings are just a beginning, when earth will be really pulled inside everyone will not even listen to such warnings. They are for us to get strong psychologically for the world is about to change soon.

I just saw this on CNN and CNN sucks to no end. They zoomed in where you could just see a little of the breakwater and then said it was 80 miles offshore!!!!!

What a crock!

It's clear from this video that the swirl was caused by water entering an enclosed breakwater and then being directed into a swirl cause the water couldn't leave back through the breakwater's entrance.

CNN!!!!

Yes they do.
When there's this much water rushing in for a longer period.
This is not a drain, but a current caused by the water coming in.

As that gets less, the vortex will disappear.
You'll see. (actually, you won't cuz it will be gone..)
