Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1104102think of the swirls you see around the piers and supports of bridges on a fast flowing(deep) river and magnify by about 10 orders of magnitude. This. As the water rushes in, it hits the walls and changes direction. But since there is still more than usual water flowing in from the sea, it lasts long enough to create this 'vortex' structure. It will go as soon as the flow decreases. But it is a huge one, to be sure. |

It's a natural phenomena when huge amounts of water is displaced around a man made barrier, the jetty. By the way, people...quick relying on the images of CNN, they loop them to make them seem like their longer events. One of the reasons why I stopped watching cable news. |

Quoting: C21H30O2/2C-IdedIf it was as simple as that it would not form such a perfect "eye"...it would be a loose looking circular pool of water with eddy flows in it. |

This warnings are just a beginning, when earth will be really pulled inside everyone will not even listen to such warnings. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1254186 United States 03/11/2011 07:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I just saw this on CNN and CNN sucks to no end. They zoomed in where you could just see a little of the breakwater and then said it was 80 miles offshore!!!!! What a crock! It's clear from this video that the swirl was caused by water entering an enclosed breakwater and then being directed into a swirl cause the water couldn't leave back through the breakwater's entrance. CNN!!!! |

When there's this much water rushing in for a longer period. This is not a drain, but a current caused by the water coming in. As that gets less, the vortex will disappear. You'll see. (actually, you won't cuz it will be gone..) |
