here's a rock i found with a cool spiral, and no, it's not a shell, it's a rock. I only wish it was not broken.

No, it's definitely a rock.

the brown spiral is embeded in the base material and you can see more of it on the bottom.

i have absolutely no ideal what could have formed it but it seems as if some other material got into the base while it was molten, i guess.

was strange enough that i picked it up and kept it, don't see stuff like this too often.

sorry, i found it walking into work, there's 4" landscaping rock by the sidewalk, was just sitting there spiral up and saw it right off.
