Kinda trivial don't you think? Quoting: DoogfarIf you would get a free miracle, to grow your penis by even 1 inch, Im sure you would do anything for it! So yeah, 4 inch is a big deal! |

Reports from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in Italy estimated the 8.9-magnitude quake shifted the planet on its axis by nearly 4 inches (10 centimeters). [link to mangalorean.com] [link to edition.cnn.com] Not some microangle cms or something, but actual 4 inches. Seems like the crust of the earth moved their measuring devices. If the earth's axis tilted it would wobble and we'd spin off into the sun. |

Their sattelite is simply reading 4 inches off the pre-quake data. |

The measuring devices have moved/malfunctioned/are being misread OR the mass of the entire earth was affected enough to change it's rotational angle? |

They'd probably fall into the earth or be left behind as space junk. The moon too for that matter. I am not buying this. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1276468 United States 03/12/2011 09:34 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I want to know, what effects does shifting off axis mean to a planet? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1022217And its orbital course? And does this mean, their is a change in our relationship with the moon? Take a child's toy a spinning top and spin it on the floor. Watch the wobbling path the top takes as it spins on its axis. Watch as it degrades. As the power declines it falls over more and more until it stops. If the earth was knocked out of a sustainable spin it would be adios amigos. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1248260 United States 03/12/2011 09:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Last year when Haiti earthquake happened, it moved it just a small, tiny bit and WOW at the earth changes it made. It was very apparent to me just how much our weather and environment changed just from that tiny bit... but 4 inches! I don't think anyone realizes just how important this is yet. If earthquakes keep happening and increasing in size and frequency, and the axis shifts each time, then 2012 very well could be a most definite possibility for our planet. It's wobble and poles and everything all going crazy like a chain reaction snowball with no end in sight. |

Earth rotates off it's axis and in say a few million years it slams into the sun. Of course all life on the planet will be wiped out immediately. |

Or did this one, shift back what Haiti did? Quoting: DoogfarSubduction decreased land mass. The world is now spinning faster. Like a dancer bringing her arms in. Spins faster. The days are being shortened slightly. |

Immediately, as in as soon as the earth takes a drastically different orbit. Not when it hits the sun, although that would do the job too. :-) |
