Bq/m3 and pCi/L

Both these units are measurements of radioactivity. The international community uses the Becquerel per cubic metre of air, while the USA uses the Picocurie per litre to measure radon. One Bq/m3 is equivalent to approximately pCi/Lx37.

I tried checking the rainwater for gamma and beta radiation two days ago, and it was normal. If we get some rain before I go to bed tonight I'll try again.

I am interested, since your meter does also do beta measurements in - Beta-particles flux density with possible evaluation of surface contamination by beta radionuclides (90Sr+90Y): 1/(cm²·min) 10…100 000; -- range if you could take some time and do a surface level, on the ground or soil beta measurement -- as I have an interest in Sr-90 and Y-90 ground deposits... most of which I hope would be residuial fallout from the above ground atomic bomb tests world wide, but epecially the NTS (NNSS)ones. Having grown up in the western panhandle of Nebraska around Sidney I am well aware of the "dustings" we got in the 1950s and 60s.

NOTE: I will be discontinuing active updates on this thread on Monday April 11, 2011. If I measure anything above normal after Monday, I will return to this site / thread and post a warning. Thank you to the station operators whom have participated, and I encourage you to start a new monitoring thread at GLP should you so choose.

Why on Monday? Because if I stopped updates immediately, without advance warning, it would surely incite speculative fear mongering and people saying I was ordered by the gov or other outside influence to do so. Hopefully by giving a few days notice I will defuse any such rhetoric.
