Japan officials: Stay indoors, nuclear leaks now dangerous

Kinda like the old days of the US Gov't telling people to have duct tape on hand to create a "safe" room.

Ahhh how the powers that be have so much in common when you really break it all down.

7.08pm: The Union of Concerned Scientists is warning that if the failure within the Fukushima Daiichi plant's containment process turns into a full-core meltdown, the resulting radiation plume could reach Tokyo.

The group said a "jerry-rigged" cooling system at the Japanese plant would be hard to maintain if all workers there were evacuated, and that experts were concerned that a larger radiation plume could travel hundreds of miles.

Radiation from a core meltdown could exit the reactor through a damaged containment vessel, the scientists said in a telephone briefing. The group called on the Japanese government to extend the evacuation zone around the nuclear plant.

: Jeffrey Lewis of the Monterey Institute of International Studies points to an alarming new statement by the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan, which confirms that the fire in the No 4 reactor today lasted for around three hours:

Fukushima Daiichi Unit 4 reactor
• At 9:38am on March 15, a fire was discovered on the third floor of the secondary containment building.
• At 12:29pm on March 15, Tepco confirmed extinguishing of the fire.

FROM DEEP INSIDE THEIR UNDERGROUND LEAD LINED BUNKER, Japan officials told the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that 'radioactivity is being released directly into the atmosphere' after a fire broke out in a storage pond for spent fuel at nuclear reactor damaged by Friday's earthquake and tsunami. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THEY ARE SORRY BUT THERE IS NO MORE ROOM IN THEIR BUNKER AND BEST OF LUCK TO THE SURFACE DWELLERS.

Good grief. What should they do? Run down to the store and grab some plastic wrap and duct tape? Sure. We are watching the nuclear slaughter of the Japanese people.

Until 8 days after the last leak. It take's that long for the radioactive debris to lose its harmful characteristics.

Looks like an admission that people SHOULD have been evacuated already as a precautionary measure. So, how many here are still willing to believe a government that told its' people there was NOTHING to worry about, when they should have been loading them onto ships and planes days ago. And now that they finally admit it, no one can even go outside, much less get out of the country. Unbelievable!

"Wait and See" is NOT good advice where nuclear material is involved. Jesus! Never, ever, trust the "wait-and-see" crowd.

Are we in Los Angeles supposed to "wait and see" if anything makes it over here, also? Shit!
