No, it's a very GOOD question. I went onto the internet and tried to find your answer, with concrete evidence, but couldn't find what I was looking for. Maybe I didn't spend enough time looking...

I DO know that there WERE some survivors when those two bombs were dropped, even right near ground-zero.

Personally, and this is just my personal opinion, is that I don't think a whole lot, if any nuclear fallout will get to the West Coast of the USA. By the time the fallout gets into the upper atmosphere and the jet stream, it may have been sufficiently dispersed, rained-out, dropped out of the sky, etc.

If any does get to the USA, I would think it would be very minimal. Not everyone owns a Geiger Counter, but the next-best-thing to have is a 'Spider Plant'--you know, the cheap plant you can buy from Walmart, Lowe's, etc? Spider plants are green and white, in their leaves. Spider Plants are natural radiation detectors, because in the presence of radiation, the white parts in the leaves always turns PURPLE. Just thought I would offer that.

I know there's a big push for those Iodine tablets, etc., but one must be very careful, and probably shouldn't take them, without doctors advice, because it can really mess with the Thyroid Function. To safely pull radioactive isotopes out of the body, I know the Spirulina is good (I take Hawaiian Nutrex Brand), Chlorella, and even sea vegetables, like Kelp, etc. These three things really pulls bad stuff out of the body, and safely.
