Almost kinda sounds like an "Onion"-headline doesn't it?

Nope. Really happened:
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Imagine you're a citizen of a foreign country. You're sitting around, living your life- your people around you, living theirs.

Then you hear engines. Then maybe the floor and the windows start to subtley vibrate.

Then there's a HIGH-PITCH SHRIEKING SOUND that lasts maybe a moment.

Then a FLASH. And ten minutes later you re-gain conciousness to find your people all lying dead around you, blown to bits.

Not one of them "Taliban". Just regular people. Like you. Blown to smithereens.

"War on Terror".

It's hard to believe we're "accomplishing" anything over there besides giving Central Asian children more-and-more reasons to grow up and become mad-as-hell vegeance-seeking terrorists.

America's "War on Terror" is (pathetically) analagous to its "War on Drugs" and I've always thought the best dramatization of the futility of it is the first season of David Simon's BRILLIANT television show "The Wire".

Actually, all 5 seasons are brilliant at depicting what's truly awful and backwards about modern America, from the "War on Drugs", to the exploitation of working people, to "Reform", to education, and the media.

But the first season is amazingly astute at dissecting the "War on Drugs" and it's not hard to find many parallels between it and the so-called "War on Terror".

To quote "Bunk" Moreland:
"It makes me sick, motherfucka, how far we done fell..."

38, not 27, dumbass. But, it's okay, because Bush is not president anymore, and nobody cares.
