Hate to be Debbie Downer but....the 70's was not a great place for me...ever watched the movie "Ice Storm" ? I was a "latch key" child that grew up to be a "helicopter" mom....maybe some of you have rose colored glasses or more affluent parents

I was also a latch key kid. Most of us were back then. We were poor and lived in the city. So what! It REALLY makes you appreciate what you have now as compared to then. But there are differences. We as kids were OUTSIDE 24/7! We walked everywhere we went and we actually LIKED it! I remember the recession, eating cans of corn, tuna, etc. BUT my Grandmother grew her own veggies and i spent alot of time there, and fishing! There was ALWAYS something TO DO! churches, recreation centers, ALWAYS had something going on. Being in parades as majorettes, marching bands, float makers, etc. were cool things to do-CREATIVE. There was roller skating, dances on Fridays and Saturday nights, arts and crafts, box cart races, pick up baseball. Not to mention kick the can and other odd games we played.

Sure there was stuff, but not like today. Read the front page of my thread. The first few pages are mellower songs-but they bring back alot of good happy memories. I haven't posted the Disco Days on this thread yet. I'm happy with the rock for now. But feel free to post what floats your boat. Commercials, car ads, whatever. Cartoons. Hell, I don't care. I don't have rose colored glasses-I am GLAD AND PROUD I grew up in the 70's!

Here's a funny story for ya. When I was 16 my boyfriend (now husband) and were tripping. I thought I was being cool and snuck in the house and was watching the movie The Fog. My mother came and and wanted me to go to the store for her. Well wouldn't you know there was a rolling FOG coming across the park towards me. Freaked me out so bad I had to cross the street and still kept watching the fog all the way to the store and back. I was sure a ship was coming out of it! Never trip and was scary movies! LOL
