SHTF Prep: Dutch oven cooking using your Preps | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1297909 Canada 03/27/2011 10:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thats a good idea to get out there and practice. I grew up in the country, and as a boy did everything from hunting gophers to camping to survival trips, to helping butcher a hog, so I feel fairly confident, we even got a duck once in a swamp, with just sticks and beat it to death and ate it. Well, thats survival. But cooking a duck, is no easy process since they are half grease and tough if they are not young. For city people, you will die of hypothermia right away and or starve and or eat the wrong thing. If you do not go out there and practice or at least go camping. |

Wow well actually no it was quite done. Sheesh you guys are so jaded sometimes. It was a pork roast that was cut up, the potato was quartered. It did take 2 hours or so. It would have been a lot easier to use charcoal, but I wanted to make sure that I could do it the hard way. One thing you are right about though, it does take a lot of wood. Cooking in a oven like this take time and patience. |
