Want some better news? The decay product of the particular of isotope of Plutonium found in the MOX fuel is Uranium 235.... radioactive in itself as an alpha emitter and a half-life of 703,800,000 years.

So after the first 24,000 years is over... only 700 million more to go!

On the positive side... it appears that a lot of posters have gotten the effects of Po confused with the effects of Pu.

On the downside, the wikipedia for Pu keeps getting edited every day... I wish someone had the cache for that from before March 10th for historical purposes... I recommend everyone go the library and get some old nuclear books for real information. :)
