Holy moly! if you pause the screen in the 13th floor movie where the human is at the edge and starring at the hologram wall and pay attention you will see the same vertical green prison bars they show over our true forms that sleep and dream human life!

In short if he was smart enough to take another step and keep going he would be going outside the prison world and into the real world, just like it was shown when he was waking up and coming out of those holographic green bars that were placed over his true form.

Oh and those holographic green bars what a clever prison symbolism right there!

At the end in the real world they showed a newspaper saying "crime rate is at an all time low" trying to say all those who are trapped in the computer world are bad guys imprisoned like in minority report with tom cruise.

I suspect it also means everyone has been put to sleep like the lunar boss did in the alien covenant planet with his black goo virus and that's why crime is at an all time low as everybody is sleeping hahaha!

Movie sunshine 2007 comes to mind that said "in the end only one man will remain" which like alien covenant reveals how the lunar boss loves to put everyone to sleep/kill everyone like death and be the only one alive and everybody else his pawns/sleep walking puppets.
