Message Subject IODINE - What they DON'T tell us about this MIRACLE nutrient! UNBELIEVABLE!

I was able to get a package of Iosat before the price jumps. I'm in Southern California and am wondering if I and when I should take it (or if the time has passed).

Your information seems like it wouldn't hurt?

The site talks about supplementation with Iodoral 12.5 mg tablets for health purposes (not protection from radiation). Each Iodoral tablet contains 12.5 mg of elemental iodine per tablet (5 mg iodine and 75 mg iodide as the potassium salt).

As for daily dose, THAT SITE states "the collective experience of three generations of clinicians has found the safest and most effective amounts for treating symptoms and signs of iodine/iodide deficiency is 12.5 - 50 mg/day".

Iosat contains 130 mg of potassium iodide per tablet.
Iodoral contains 5 mg iodine / 75 mg iodide per tablet.

Basically two Iodoral tablets contain 20 mg more iodide than one Iosat tablet. But Iodoral also contains iodine whereas Iosat does not.

Hmmm. I keep hearing warnings I'm sure all of you have heard: "Don't take it", "Be careful", "Could do more harm than good", "You don't need it". I guess I will make my own decision based on my own research (which I LOVE to do by the way LOL).

I am just learning about all this stuff. I think it is such valueable information - I feel like I have just struck gold! I have many conditions mentioned at that site and was leaning toward iodine deficiency even prior to finding that site. Needless to say I was floored when I read the info at that site!

I think the best advice is to do lots of your own research and weigh all the facts so you can make for yourself an extremely INFORMED decision about taking Iosat, Iodoral, or any other supplement. Also factor in: where you live (more exposure?), body size, other conditions you may have (thyroid disease, etc), if you are taking any other meds that may negatively interact with the Iosat. I personally would not take Iosat unless I knew for a fact that radiation levels were at lethally high levels. BUT how do we find that out is the question!

Iodine in and of itself is a naturally occuring element; a nutrient our bodies NEED, but you still need to use caution so you will not overdose on it. Vitamin A and iron are also naturally occuring and necessary for proper functioning of the body, but an overdose of either CAN KILL YOU.

Be wise and be careful!

oops

Scratch what I said in the post above:

"I personally would not take Iosat unless I knew for a fact that radiation levels were at lethally high levels."

After typing that I realized 2 tablets of Iodoral contain more potassium iodide than one Iosat tablet. I just forgot to remove what I incorrectly said about the Iosat.

Since I am ordering Iodoral tablets and will be taking several tablets per day as outlined in the mentioned in my original post, I thought I should correct myself!

Sorry for my poor proof-reading! tomato
