Wul (OP) 12/08/2005 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Weather the weather is normal or weather the weather is abnormal is a bone of contention. Does the melting of Siberian and the Great Lakes ice flows earlier in the year and further north each year have anything to do with humans? Whatever, if humans do nothing it will me immaterial |

Anonymous Coward 12/08/2005 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | But doesnīt depend on how you define normal? Overall climate has been much more stable in recent history than in the distant past so yes, that is abnormal. "Normal" climate would be shifting more and faster than it is now. It is going to get worse before it gets better and there isnīt a damn thing you, I, or anyone else can do about it but prepare. Is humankind effecting it? Maybe. Enough to matter? Doubtful. Is change inevitable regardless of our actions? Without doubt. |

I suppose you could take "everything is normal" as meaning that, but thatīs not true. Changes in weather are, technically speaking, absolutely normal. But here in GLP Land, change is the end of the world. But, yeah... the "global warming" thing is kind of interesting. Whether humans have significant impact on any change in the weather is a big, big question. All of us, I hope, understand the power of nature, but yet people here continue to loudly proclaim that we mere humans are upsetting the balance. Surprisingly (to many of you, Iīm sure) I partially agree. Even if the possiblity exists, I think we should be proactive rather than take a wait-and-see stance. I canīt say for sure whether humans will be responsible for calamitous changes in the future, but this crap about a strong hurricane here or there, a flood, heavy snow, etc. being "the end" has really got to stop. Itīs been going on for longer than anyone here cares to remember (illustrated by the simple fact that no one here *does* remember extremes like the Great Storm I linked to), so current equivalents are absolutely no indication of Bad Things. |

(((shaking head))) ----------------- Oh, come now... Surely youīd take offense if I called you obviously, mentally deficient, but I have no real proof to back that up, so how about you people try putting away those paranoid, unfounded accusations for once and try to play nice? Why do you think I insult people around here? Because itīs my job, or because I was insulted first? And, really, donīt try to tell me the folks here on GLP are a beacon of human decency, because thatīs just a damn lie and you know it; youīve proven it yourself just now. You canīt honestly expect people to just sit back and take the verbal abuse many of you dish out, without reacting in kind, do you? Sorry, but it doesnīt work that way. You play nice; I play nice. |

While Iīm sure the European floods are bad, being a natural disaster and all, you canīt seriously try to claim that, "OMGWTF! THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED!!!" anywhere... ever. |

Cl1mh4224rd (OP) 12/08/2005 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ----- Quote ----- Yeah, and we have had an ice age before too. ----------------- And weīll probably have another one, too. So what? Unfortunately, many of you seem to be afraid that one day youīll wake up and your house in Florida will buried under a sheet of ice. Come on now... Iīm sure even the most diehard catastrophists around here know anything even remotely that extreme will not happen that quickly. Something that major takes a relatively long time to manifest. Short on a geological time-scale, but kind of longish to humans. |

Cl1mh4224rd (OP) 12/08/2005 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok, sure. Youīre entitled to that opinion. Youīre also entitled to not believe me when I tell you itīs not true, but that doesnīt change the fact that itīs not true. Iīd ask what Iīd have to do to prove that I donīt work for the government, but I know youīd just see it as a hollow gesture. Of course, youīre obviously not willing to change your mind about the issue anyway, so... whatever. Youīre happy in your fantasy world. I donīt care. Itīs a win-win in my book. |

Circuit Breaker (OP) 12/08/2005 10:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "You couldnīt be any more obvious a government sell-out." Nancyīs paid troll is out in force today. Too bad she can only afford to hire one now that all the donations have stopped coming into her "non-profit" doomsday cult. So, what that means is that just because my opinion doesnīt adhere to your beliefs doesnīt make me a "paid debunker." Thatīs a rather tired auto response that you woo-woos need to change. |
