We went over this before, Astronut. Your colored filter, that attaches to your camera is not the same as an infrared telescope with a frequency adjusted bandwidth. The Infrared South Pole Telescope can be tuned in the Infrared frequency range up to, and including, "Microwave. Liquid nitrogen is also needed for cooling, although the freezing temperatures at the South Pole does help.
