Do you need to know how to Survive WTSHTF?

Taking your family, ( for me it is my wife and two children) and bugging out could be dangerous, in most cases it would be better to stay in your home. I fear the idea of a SHTF scenario but realistically there is a high chance that law and order will come back, hopefully fast. If you have some where safe to go, it could be dangerous to get there, so if you want to go be sure you have to and plan for the case of losing your transport.

water should not stop coming out of the tap as soon as TSHTF so stock up, fill up everything you can, even try to improvise and use plastic garbage bags. food should not be that bad for a couple of weeks, you should always have some extra cans in the cupboard and with water you should be able to barter. just remember try and look at it as a holiday, don't do very much and just sit around, you should not need much food or water then.

you only need a couple of things:

1. A handgun, life's best friend, there are not many countries that will not allow you to have one so get one, it is the only weapon that insure you will have a chance no matter what happens. Its also good because carrying a rifle is not smart, everyone will see it and want it, they will kill you for it when your not looking.

2. .22LR rifle and handgun, ammo is cheap so you can buy enough to last years, you can hunt with it and use it for self defence if need be. A air rifle is also good for small animals and it is easy to make ammo for it without the need for gun powder. .223/.308 is always good to have for long range kills of big game and gang bangers.

3. Solar panels, you really only need a small one that can be carried with you, use it to charge batteries for your, torch, night vision, radio, GPS, walkey talkey, satellite phone and range finder. All these things you should have as well, if you can, get a wind up radio/torch.

4. A trailer that can be pulled by a biycial or pulled by hand. It should have four wheels so that when you put something like water or something heavy you can pull it easy. Have a car trailer too, but if petrol is hard to come by this will be your only option.

know if in a house you can cover the windows with a material (wood, metal, other) and make it easy to take them off from the inside if you have to get out of the house, to make the house look like no one is living in it make a little fire stick and let the smoke off that cover the tops of the outside windows making it look like the house has been burnt from the inside. When everything returns to normal just paint or wash it off. sleep in the roof so if someone comes in without you knowing you can get them first, or just hide there if need be, try to have a way to get onto the roof and down onto the street quietly.

If you live in a apartment you can make it hard for people to get up your stairs, but that may not work if people are coming and going so just make sure your door can not be knocked in easily and be careful of people getting through your windows from apartments under you and above you.

if you need to travel through an urban environment I have posted some information about that so just look up my other posts. but to sum it up,

1.the best time to travel is at dawn when it is hard to see but you can make out the road, it will be hard for people to shoot at you or chase you. this is the same for walking, bicycle riding or driving. if driving do not use your lights and drive slow so that the wind hitting your car does not make much noise.

2. If your driving your car cover your windows with hard plastic, or other materials, it will make it much stronger if hit with rocks, fire bombs go throw the windows and kill everyone in side, nasty things.

3. I suggested making smoke grenades ( check out metacafe.com) because you can use them if your running from a gang because they will have to move slower through the smoke, you can let one go in a house and get out fast but they will not know where you are, you can use them as a distraction or make people think you have gone a different way or use it to cover your position from gun fire, good when one of your friends are hit and you want to get him.

don't forget, if you want to loot from a shopping center take a torch because if no power it will be pitch black in there.

Now if TSHHTF and it does not look like its getting better and your only option is to bug out, most people will not have a place to go or the money to had bought a cabin. Everyone knows that a lot of people will be going into the countrysides to look for work and food, so it will be hard to get started in a small town. Heaps of people live in cities nowadays, the country side would not know what hit it when they all show up on their door steps. I say this because it might be best for you to go it alone for awhile. the best way to do this is make your way to the nearest national park, a big one that has rivers going through it, take a good tent and other gear and camp out there, you will have water and hunt for food. If you wanted you could take some sand bags and sheet metal for roofs and make a quick house that could be moved as well. Know where your nearest community is so you can walk to it for help, food or equipment and also to check if it would be safe to maybe live there. Just try and meet people on the outskirt first and ask what its like in the town, they may tell you a gang is in control and that its not safe, but ask many people to see if any are lying.

If you wanted to be more prepared but do not want to spend lots of money your next option is to go camping now at your nearest forest and find a place that is well hidden and near water. When you do that get someone you trust, preferably a family member and build a log cabin out there, nothing to fancy just a one room with a fire place. you can put fake signs on it like ranger cabin do not enter, or this place is monitored by the park ranger do not enter. this cabin would be your bug out shelter, a lot of people say do not use fire because people will smell it and find you, but if you do it at night it should be right, and try and make the cabin far from areas that could be where large amounts of people could be, if its just a couple of guys that smell you fire and find you, hopefully they have a family, they should not hurt you, hell try and make friends with them and make them a cabin too and all live together, maybe, or just kill anyone that gets near your place, not the christian way but it would work. The next part would be to plant vegtables and fruit tress around the area so that you be sure their will be food there. If you got a bit of cash you could try and leave some horses on a farm near the forest and make a plan with the owner that you would come and get them if TSHTF, but it would not be best to trust anyone unless you have to and spending large amounts of money on SHTF scenarios is not always possible.

like I said before it would be a good idea to just stay in your homes, talk to your neighbors and try and get a group together, have a couple of walkey talkeys and give them out so if your attacked or someone else is you can all get together and fight, not everyone will have guns so if you can make bows and arrows, they are deadly weapons and are better then nothing when up against someone with a gun. working on your own could not be the best way to go, If you wanted to try something cool you could find out where doctors live and when you get a chance try and find them, convince them to come and live in your area, many homes will not have people living in them so tell them they will have there own place and your protection. I would only do this if I knew doctors that lived close, I would not travel far, but if my wife or kids were dying I would travel to every doctors house I knew in the hope they could help them, just take something to barter with.

To sum up be careful of people knocking at your door, they will be asking for food but you can not give them any, and never tell them anything, lie and say you and you teenage sons need the food, make out as if you have lots of men living there, tell them that if this SHTF keeps going you will be knocking on their doors as if you have very little food. Also lets not forget cannibalism, I would not kill my neighbour for food but if some punk was trying to kill me and I got him first, cut him up and eat him, just don't tell the family its human, just say you got some pig of a guy. No one wants to eat another person, so if you can feed them to cats or dogs you have captured to fatten them up and eat them instead.

seriously tho...

just a little tip to add to the staying in the wilderness part; find an area with a good fresh water river, and set up a netted area within the water. that way you can catch fish, put them inside, and will have a good reliable food source.

and always take caution to pace yourself on meals. its better to eat several small portions a day. that way, your body does not get sluggish from full stomach, you will have constant energy, and you won't spend so much time at each meal... time spent distracted can mean death.

AND REMEMBER! always keep your most essential basic supplies, some food and water on your person, cuz you never know when you are going to have to run at a moment's notice.

also, if you plan on wilderness survival during the "SHTF" incident, i suggest that you start getting ready NOW by hiking and learning how to make your way through the woods quickly, silently and stealthily... practice climbing trees too. make sure that you would be able to survive there WITHOUT tools or shelter. maybe even pick a few spots and set up hidden stashes of tools, cookware, building and hunting supplies, and LOTS OF ROPE. trust me, if you wanna survive in the bush, rope is one of the biggest life savers you can have... you'll be surprised by how many uses you find for it.




most importantly tho, be sure not to turn into an animal when that shit goes down. it'll be easy to lose your mind, so be aware and take care of your psyche. a quick and critically thinking sane mind is your best hope of survival

Oklahoma -- lots of farmland here, and ranches, which we will need because a horse will probably be more reliable than a car in that situation, plenty of spring water, abundant game animals and cows, of course...you get the picture....it's an ideal spot to try and rebuild our lives.

But first, we all are going to get smashed...then we can begin the long and hard task ahead.
