I asked God for his mercy and let me be with my children even if it was our time ,to let them now I love them to let me hold their hands...and tell them i love them! I walk on top of glass, i had glass on my hair and scalp...Thank God so many times, even our dog was alive , I realize next morning looking down to the floor still daze by everything i discover a piece of glass stuck on my foot and wondering why I dint feel it...Horrible time.... glad is gone. Glad that you are ok. We need to realize that we are brothers and sisters and in times like this the differences disappear. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1316293I am overjoyed that you and yours are alive and well. Thank you for posting that...you and I know what those experiences are like. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1331467 Hong Kong 04/10/2011 08:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is the second anniversary of the Good Friday, 2009 tornado event that rocked Middle Tennessee. Quoting: GLP AngelMy husband and I had been out to lunch that day as we were both off from work. We had not had the radio or TV on all morning and didn't know there were tornado warnings...we got back from our lunch and it looked cloudy but not anything out of the ordinary. All of a sudden we lost power and there was a really quiet, eerie feeling that I can't quite describe. I heard what I thought to be thunder in the distance but it didn't "breathe" between claps like most thunder does and I said to my husband " They say a tornado sounds like a train...should we get in the closet?" We didn't though right at that time, because he went into the living room and watched our roof blow off. It was hailing inside our house! I was in the back of the house and remember the windows imploding ...thick pink insulation was blowing down from the attic and I remember thinking it looked like pink snow. Crashes and destruction were going on all through the house; half of our house was caved in, the piano turned over , the china cabinet knocked down...I was looking for my pet cats and found one running down the hall; I put her in the closet. WE ended up in the back of the house and it was so badly demolished that we had to get out through a window after the tornado was over. The entire neighborhood looked like a war zone. I saw people crying, a dog running by, soon we heard sirens. Two people less than 100 yards from us were killed and they were the two victims; it was a miracle more people were not killed in this storm. Our pets came out of it safe and sound, we have a new home now...I am grateful for the 20 years I had at my other beloved home and thankful to have the many blessings I have. There was an angel statue on the front porch that was found in the rubble that was unbroken and it stands in my front yard today. My faith has been strengthened and my goal in life is to help as many as possible, both people and animals. Thank you for reading my story. Your story is bullshit in my opinion. No backwater hayseed in Tennessee has a piano in their trailer, let alone a fucking china cabinet. |

It's peeled the pavement off the road for about 1/4 mile, laid all the trees down flat like toothpicks and turned a 3 story house upside down, so that the foundation was sticking straight up in the air. Oddly enough, the house wasn't destroyed, just flipped upside down. I remember thinking what unbelievable power it must have took to do such a thing. Tornado's are no joke. If you see one, take cover. |

I don't think people really appreciate just how destructive a tornado is until they see one in person. One touched down within a mile of where I was canoing once. Actually that day, I was pretty sure I was going to die and I recited the Lord's Prayer. I bought an afghan type blanket a few weeks after and it has The Lord's Prayer on it ...it is something I really treasure. Another neat thing: I found a cross out in my yard that was not mine; it's pewter colored I would say 8 inches or so. I keep it on my night stand. I also found a little paper round circle cardboard thing in the dirt and it says "Prevail" but I believe the torn/dirty part of it says " God Will..." I keep it by my bed as well in a drawer. XOXO But now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love. |
