Living in the now is a completely misunderstood concept. It is supposed to reflect that in this moment you appreciate what you have and you give thanks for it and you enjoy it. It does not mean ignoring your needs for tomorrow.

I do not suggest that anyone should embrace fear.. fear is no good to you.. but action, knowledge, determination to ensure the continuation of our species surely is an important trait to have as a human being ??

I live in the Midwest and Spring time means rain which isnt' comforting at ALL. Besides all of the U.S. is a concern to me and it sucks that our gov't isn't putting up warnings to the West coast people - all of us! AND, I can't believe the world community is so silent!

Played cards last night with a couple and tried bringing up the radiation issue - they looked at me like I had three heads - either they weren't informed, don't care to be informed, are afraid of being informed or are plain stupid.

Sadly, I think most people are buying the rubbish that there is no threat to the U.S. -- that just shows how DUMBED DOWN most people are in the U.S.

I gave up trying to bring info & truth to people in my circle, because they prefer to live in denial. I find that such people lack courage to face harsh realities, even ones that will cause their demise. Such people will not make it through the difficult times.

I have listened to many of the different media heads and ABC, CNN, CBS, NBC, PBS programs closely for the last three weeks as the so called "budget debates" takes place. The one issue that is as basic as it gets when it comes down to any budget discussion there has not been one mention of. In the absence of not a mention in all respects of that issue it makes the "budget discussions" a 100% complete charade.

Each and every one of us whether being in poverty or a billionaire when we discus our annual or monthly budget for home or business will discuss with our significant other or business partners two basic issues:

#1. Our normal operating expenses; planed expenses for any project we are working on or intend to implement; and any standing balances we plan on keeping as time passes.

#2. What our standing investments are that we have; account balances of all liquid cash; and our income we expect to get from all sources with all sources being our investment, salary, sales, and other sources.

In the "budget debates or discussions" we have been watching the issues presented that are saturating the air waves through the talking heads; news; and media programs almost exclusively, if not without exception, have only talked about; discussed; or presented the topic of #1 above.

Fear is a primal instinct that alerts us when danger is present. Without it, humanity would never have made it this far. There is a big difference between living in fear, vs. living in awareness. When we live in awareness, we can gather data & use that info to be pro-active in order to organize our lives in a way that best suits our survival & happiness.

Danger exists currently for our survival & is therefore appropriate for us to gather data, plan & prepare, how we will deal or cope with this threat. This is living in awareness, no fear.

I want our school board to install radiation isotope meters in all the schools.

I want to the school board to develop a step-level response to the readings, and if necessary do something such as:

Do not allow children to pay outside on the play yard,
Do not allow the bus windows to be opened,
Do not allow coats and hats in the class rooms

I want FERC to not permit the construction of new nuclear plants

I want the local radio station to issue isotope alerts along with the daily weather forecast,

I want EPA to issue an information brochure explaining simple steps that may be taken to reduce radiation exposure.

Not to scare everyone, just explain. Those who don't care will do nothing and those who do care may get a chance to live a few more healthy years.

I DO NOT want the damn Homeland Security involved. We got stupid color-level "t e r r o i s t" threats thrown at us after 9/11. No more stupid schitt.

there is a difference between being vigilant and being paranoid. being paranoid is seeing something that looks bad and making it out to be worse than it really is. living a life of vigilance is looking at something and doing deeper research on it, to get a better understanding of what is going on. i choose the life of vigilance. i see what is going on, i understand what is going on, but im not going to base my life around all the bad things that are happening. in my honest opinion, the reason i try to downplay this situation is not because i believe it isn't a big deal, i KNOW its a big deal. it is because i think its hard to draw any conclusions on anything that happens because nobody has been through a crisis of this magnitude. we should all just stay tuned, and not worry until we have to. that doesn't mean you have to wait til the last minute, but remember that it is going to get worse if nobody acts now in japan. the japanese have proven they cant do anything about this. its bad now, yes, but it is going to get worse. be ready, mentally, but dont fear. be vigilant, observant, just stay tuned. nothing wrong with being informed, just don't use that information to create panic when panicking is never the answer.
