We are not even getting anything tested here in Canada!

Guess our government thinks we are immune or something! Thank god we can get the test results from Washington as we are likely in the same category here!

You need to channel your ridiculous hate a little more constructively--blaming Obama? Really? He's probably not even in the loop on this stuff. And the former pres was 1000 times more incompetent. You should be criticizing the nuclear power industry, not some guy that came into the office 2 1/2 years ago. Nobody in the entire world was prepared for this, but the richies can run away--the rest of us can't. The republicans make us much poorer than the dems ever will, although, they are almost as bad.

Before you get too doomy, read the final paragraph of the source document:

The technical report from the operating company (TEPCO) and the Japanese nuclear safety authorities
(NISA) fear releases over several more days, even weeks. If more fires are declared or if the operators are
forced to release more steam in order to avoid hydrogen explosions, new massive waste releases will occur.
In France, the impact will remain low and the safety measures relatively easy to implement. In Japan, it is
entirely different.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1296248

don't you get it? in EVERY country where the rads fall, the population will be told 'the impact will remain low', 'miniscule amounts', 'no threat to health' etc etc ad nauseum. they'll be spouting that bullshit when people's teeth and hair are falling out and they're shitting blood. all governments are fucking liars. all of them. it's what they do.

I dont trust enews. He rarely if ever cites his sources. I followed the link he has for this info and there is no credible source.

That being said. I am in Calif and I have felt bad for 2 weeks and the last 3 days have been even worse. Headache, nausea, "stomach issues". This is not normal, never felt like this before. Its like the flu but not.

They are not going to warn us becuase there is not a lot that can be done about it. Most likely, people won't see any effects for 10 to 20 years--by that time it will be too late to blame anyone and people that get sick won't necessarily link it to the Fukashima radiation because a t the time, they were told it was safe. Why panic people when the government can't fix our food, water and air suppplies.

Basically, you are right.

Look at the current rise in Cancer, especially in women and children. NOT ONE Doctor in the U.S. has ever said - 'This rise in cancer was most likely caused by the radiation contamination from a nuclear accident in Russia 25 years ago.'

The radiation from Japan is blowing right over the US, there is nothing anyone can do until those 4 reactors are entombed and the radioactive contamination removed from the area.
Until then, some will get sick, some will die, some will live.
Sadly, the West Coast will be blanketed in radiation by September. The planet needs to rally.

A month into one of the largest nuclear disasters in history, officials in both the Japanese and America government have continually downplayed the risks while independent groups have screamed bloody murder over the dangers of high and low level radiation.

Radiation has been found in milk, rainwater, and tap water throughout the United States as well as in certain areas of Europe.

In Hilo Hawaii, milk was tested that showed radiation at much higher levels then were previously acknowledged.

“New EPA milk samples in Hawaii show radiation in milk at 800% above limits for C-134, 633% above limits for C-137 and 600% above EPA maximum for I-131 for a total of 2033%, or 20.33 times, above the federal drinking water limits,” reported Alexander Higgins.

Why is our government not warning our people? This is just crazy.
 Quoting: TKC

The simple fact of the matter is that people on the US West Coast are receiving less radiation exposure on a daily basis than a resident of Denver Colorado used to receive before Fukushima. Personally, I just decided that I am going to go to southern Mexico for the next few months. As a novelist I can write off the trip as a business expense as I will be gathering information for a new novel.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1266396

That's right....believe this comparison of apples to baseball bats! Believe! All you have to do is believe!

I'm going believe there's a huge glaring problem with this pollyanna BS spew. I believe we ought to educate ourselves what the differences are between internal and external exposure.

Let’s look at route of exposure. When we hear the words “radiation exposure,” we generally think of radiation beaming out from a source or device and striking the outside of our body. However, radiation can also come from radioactive material that leaves its energy in internal organs if ingested, injected, or inhaled. As a result, it is important to consider not only the type of radiation emitted from a source, but also the way it is absorbed. There are three main ways to be exposed to and absorb a dose from radiation: external exposure, internal exposure, and skin contamination.

Read up on it and stop going on blind faith and hope.

Re: Independent French radiation commission warns Europe that health risk from Fukushima fallout is “no longer negligible”
Let me tell you this; i Chernobyl, the organically grown crops did not absorb the fallout as much as the unorganic crops did.
When people took their crops to sell, the government used a geiger counter and none of the unorganic growers could sell theirs because the readings were too high.
Only organic growers could seel their crops.

So buy organic. Less pesticdes, less herbicides, less GMO contamination, less fungicides and less radiation.

Organic foods are healthier too because organic growers actually FEED the soil so crops have more minerals to absorb.

IMHO They are not going to warn us cause they don't WANT to do anything. We don't care about ourselves so why should THEY care about us.
If we cared, we would be voting for independants instead of rep & dems like Jesse Ventura says.

If we cared about ourselves, we wouldn't be eating fast food & all the CRAP in the grocery stores. A Happy Meal is considered a wholesome dinner by many people. People who go to the doctor for a magik pill & surgery rather than looking for cheaper more natural cures, don't care about themselves. Just want to be entertained with frankenstein food & shows on the idiot box.

Really, you can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped.

But people on GLP want to be helped & there are plenty of threads with really good info-take extra vit C & other vitamins/antioxidants, take kelp pills & iodine & collloidal silver & other supplements...

As for the effects in 10 to 20 years, I think we'll be seeing babies born with the 2 heads & other atrocities like they were from Chernobyl. I'm sure the governments will use the same line they used back then "It's from fertilizer".

So, what if they came out and said how bad things really are?
OK, then what? How in the hell is that going to help anything?

If it's in the rain, then it's in everything, and no amount
of taking showers and scrubbing your ass with wire brush is
going to take that away.

So, everyone goes crazy buying up all of the iodide pills

Maybe it won't happen with Fukushima, but I honestly believe one day we will destroy this planet and end up having to go underground and live in bunkers like the Fallout video games.

Just think, generations of people will be born, live and die underground, just surviving and keeping the human race going until the radiation clears (this will take a very long time).

It's gunna happen soon, either from something like Fukushima, or nuclear war

You need to channel your ridiculous hate a little more constructively--blaming Obama? Really? He's probably not even in the loop on this stuff. And the former pres was 1000 times more incompetent. You should be criticizing the nuclear power industry, not some guy that came into the office 2 1/2 years ago. Nobody in the entire world was prepared for this, but the richies can run away--the rest of us can't. The republicans make us much poorer than the dems ever will, although, they are almost as bad.
