....when the background radiation detected from the geiger counter reaches 200 cpms, we would absorb MORE than the allowable limits for a year within one hour.
So far, in West L.A., the cpm's range from 48-68. Seems like getting out of town at about 100 cpms would be a good idea.
Quoting: jellybean224 967614Geiger counter alarms on most personal counters given out during the Chenobyl emergency, sound at 100 cpm. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1301284Thank you. I'm thinking if we halve the 200 cpms, then maybe we can also halve the absorbed figure from 6 rems to 3. So if it does get to 100cpms, we would be already at the EPA's evac/shelter guidelines, which are between 1-5 rems only. If we can halve it again to 50 cpms' which we already are getting, then the absorbed rem's should be at 1.5, which is right now above the EPA evacuation guidelines. Shit, if these figures are correct, West L.A. should already be evacuating! Can ANYONE refute this data please?
