I read somewhere that the year ZERO was omitted...Does this mean this is 2012?

There was no year zero A.D.

I don't know much about the Mayan codices, though.

Don't know if it makes any difference with regard to them.

There was no "zero" in the west at that time.

It was adopted later.

The first year A.D was 1 a.d.

A.D. does not mean "after death" as many suppose, but year of our lord, anno domini.

The first year of his life was 1 a.d.

Hm, it could be possible. But, I personally believe that the cosmos (and everything in it) has no calendar or sense of time :)


Kinda off topic, but why is it people omit the 13th floor in buildings? Is it simply the fact its an "unlucky" number?

I really do as well. What really made me think about this was a conversation between me and my hubby. He is so NOT into any conspiracies, or anything remotely close. BUT, he brought this up earlier.

It would make sense though. We have experienced earthquakes like crazy, pestilences, violence, etc. In the end, it all adds up.

That was the year 1 b.c. (before Christ) or 1 b.c.e. (before the christian era).
