Benadryl (Diphenhydramine HCL) will help a little but you really need lotion.

DO NOT scratch it, this will only make it worse and cause it to spread.

CALAMINE, also soak the whole area with nearly scolding hot water for as long as possible (multiple times per day). This will take care of the problem without delay.

You can use a mixture of baking soda and water. You want to add just enough water so that the baking soda makes a thick paste. Then rub the paste on and let it dry.

Re: Please help me Cure for Poison Oak/Ivy the itch is killing me and my legs are blistering
Psoriasis, is what I think I have, that was red blotches and scaly skin. Itchy as all get out like you.
I even tried a wire brush till bleeding.
Creams and lotions etc.
One was take oats in a sock and try that water from rolled oats. Too time consuming and wet etc. Alveno has the oats in the cream.
--Till I saw a commercial for dry skin dandruff---
...Selsan Blue-- at Wal MArt.
Rub it on 15 min. before shower or bath.
My doctor says it is the ..Zinc Oxide.. he figures that works.
We have moss on the concrete tile roof, they say get Zinc Oxide powder used for horses?? It gets rid of moss?
Also tried sitting with the leg in the sun 1/2 hour to sunburn and that cures, that would be vitamin "D" your skin changes to D3.
This all stopped the itching and flaky skin.
Repeat use a few times till baby bum smooth.
Hope it works.

Years ago for "Poison Ivy" the song said Calamine Lotion.it stops the itching? More like a chalky milk to apply.
See what works.

What I also found rather then a wire brush, use a pan plastic scour of the coarse kind.

Fresh Alder Bark. Peal it off the tree with a knife or hatchet. Rub backside of moist bark skin over all infected areas. If need to be peel the soft interior skin out so you can get to the hard to reach areas. This has been the #1 cure for poison oak since I cannot remember. Has always worked no matter how bad the rash is & within afew minutes the itch will stop, guaranteed.

I feel ya...I have had it for a month now.

It started on my face and my eye eventually swelled shut and it traveled all the way down my body and onto my man parts. Out of commission.

Anyway take some bennodryl right now to stop the swelling and go pick up some callodryl and anti itch cream at the store.. if it gets bad I recommend and going to the doctor. They will prolly give you some roids and a shot.

It's an oil on your skin, so use hot water and LOTS of soap. Then Calamine, or even clay to asorb the oil.

Okay washing is not going to work it happened 4 days ago and I've taken several showers since then with very hot water and a Salicylic acne wash soap. It started as little red bumps on my left calve and I was scratching like crazy till I saw them get bigger and blister which is when I realized it had to be poison oak/ Ivy since I've beign hiking a lot lately.

Is not spreading to new locations but the blisters are getting worst and it is leaking clear fluid.

Re: Please help me Cure for Poison Oak/Ivy the itch is killing me and my legs are blistering
i would always soak in the tub with that oatmeal powder crap you can buy.

and daub lots of that pink crap all over the blisters.. calamine lotion i think its called?

and for small blisters, to keep them from spreading, i would always hop in a hot shower and actually pop the blisters, wash the area really well, and then cover it with a bandage.. it dries up and you just have to keep it clean and keep the "puss" from spreading it around to other areas..

also, take some benadryl.. and maybe some ibuprofen(like twice as much as whatever it says on the bottle unless its prescription) to numb the itch...

fels naptha soap
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 659511

POISON IVY PREVENTION OR TREATMENT:

Fels-Naptha Soap
has been used for over 100 years for the treatment and prevention of poison ivy, sumac and oak rash. If you think you have been exposed to poison ivy, oak or sumac, shower immediately with Fels-Naptha to remove the resin from your skin, and it will help to dry up the rash, as well. This will greatly reduce and in most cases prevent any skin reaction to the poison ivy oil. Make sure to launder your clothes in some shaved or grated fels naptha (about 1/16th of the bar) to remove the resin from your clothes. Poison ivy resin can stay on your clothes for over 1 year even if the clothes have been washed with normal detergent.

Re: Please help me Cure for Poison Oak/Ivy the itch is killing me and my legs are blistering
I have poison ivy all the time since that's all that grows out here and I found benadryl spray and creams stops the itch. There is nothing that removes poison ivy from your skin. Its a b itch to have and it just has to run its course of about ten to twelve days. Don't use soap since it spreads it around most likely to your balls which the cream comes in handy if you do. The sores and blister will heal and you won't even know you had it in about thirty days. Unitl then hang in there and I know what your going throung, but remember it gets worse before it gets better.

listen this really helps !!!

If you have contacted poison oak or poison ivy, apply a little Active Manuka Honey to the affected area. The honey will help draw out the poison and also seems to act as a natural pain reliever.

you can get it at whole foods
