This is old news, the fuel probably melted within hours at most of the initial station black out.

The sad thing is we know that when they've admitted something, it's way worse. They still try and use words like "partially" melting. I'm sure it's only "partially" melted after only a month with no cooling.

I realize that, I was just kind of surprised that Japan is finally admitting it., and sad what a bad omen that probably is.

What I find amazing is that they are talking about trying to build some kind of external system to cool the mess down. They should be dumping the boron and concrete on that whole scene.

I heard they are mixing boron with the water they pour on it. No way to check if that's accurate but it would be common sense.

If they cover it with concrete now, even if the concrete could set, it would just make it impossible to cool with more cooling water.

Actually the admitted a lot early. I don't know if that specific agency (NISA) made that specific admission, but I remember the Japanese government and/or TEPCO showing us pictures of #3 blown to smithereens, detailed photos, etc. The conclusions were obvious.

I remember in one news conference in the first week or two, a TEPCO or government guy said that one of the units was in full meltdown. They said it once, didn't make a big deal of it, but they said it. This was on NHK English news.

I don't know why people are saying Japan did not disclose. Now I don't know either what the internal Japanese news is saying, maybe the people there are being aggressively soothed and lied to, but as a foreigner it seems they've admitted a lot.

NUKE POWER is stupid because...

1) you can't safely dispose of the spent fuel on a planet this size - nuke power should have been a NON-STARTER for this reason only.
2) add as you see fit... but it's all academic.
