There is always predictions like this after a disaster. The funny thing is it never happens like that and it's something totaly horrible and unexpected. Nobody predicted the oil doom and nobody predicted the earthquake tsunami nuke doom. It will be something new and interesting.

I live on said fault, and we've always known about it and the possibility of a Mega quake.

In fact we're overdue for one.

I predict that a Megaquake of 9.5 will happen within 7 days and that the GLP effect will intervene, thereby cancelling the quake.

Doom on.

History channel recently ran a 2 hour show called "10.0 mega quake' that talk about cascadia, san andreas, new madrid,etc

On top of that you have national geographic who did a show right after the japan megathrust quake aptly titled 'countdown to catastrophe', guess what this show was about? Cascadia being long overdue and ready to destroy the pacific NW.

Also I posted a thread earlier regarding these weird FEMA sponsored commercials airing in southern california regarding preparation for 'the big one'.

Methinks the goverment is telling the MSM to prepare the pasture for doom because they know it's coming...and real soon.

So much for the GLP effect last month when the 9.1 megathrust quake and tsunami ravaged Japan....

They have known about it for several years. The thing is though that the more research they do on it each year it gets worse.

The scientists used to think that the ETS (the slow, non-volcanic, deep eqs) events every 14 months let pressure off. These events last for a period of weeks but are not felt. Now they have come to the conclusion that it is just the opposite - likened to one more click on a loaded gun. It is likely that the big one will happen during one of these events.

I think the last one ended last Aug. or Sept. so the next event will likely start in Oct. or Nov. Also, there have been swarms on the subduction zone. I watched one last May of about 13 eqs. where some got up to 5's.

If I lived there and the ETS events started plus a swarm on the subduction zone started at same time I would take a long, quick vacation.

That area scares me worse than Cali. But I guess we all have our possible doom no matter where we live no matter if it's eq, fire,tornadoes, volcanoes, flooding. One good thing is that they are doing extensive research now. I am hoping they get to the point that they can give people ample notice.

new madrid, middle of may, cannot find the date anywhere, just says middle of may... even tho the 1811 quake was in different month, they said something about spring training for some reason...

I was living in Nanaimo when the biggest recorded quake hit Alaska in 1964, the tidal wave was very devastating on the west coast of Vancouver Island. When this one hits some time it will be much worse, but I'm planning to move back to Nanaimo this year, so I'll be rolling the dice, but looking for a house on very high ground, and hope for the best.

The GLP Effect? What the heck is that!? GLP is a bunch of paranoids, people suffering from OCD, trolls, and people who think to much about "possible scenarios" and not enough about both "actually potential scenarios" and the absolute fact that anything can happen at any time. Want to hedge your bets? Get a flu shot.

Actually, it hasn't experiences on 9+ in the past 311 years. Geologically speaking, 50 years means practically nothing. What's your point, anyway?

There are opposing theories. No one knows for sure if this is a release of pressure or a building of it.
