Hunting is nonsense if it's for sport. It's quite different if it's for food.

Life requires life to live. It's unfortunate.

I really hate the assholes who hunt animals that you'd never eat like lions or bears. I watched this asshole on the hunting channel snipe a lion from a few hundred yards away then celebrate like he's a badass. I really hope a lion eats him on his next hunt.

Re: Who here hunts!??!?!
I love hunting. Louisiana white tail deer are very skittish. Hunting is mostly waiting for them while being completely quiet. Very soothing for the soul.

sad
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1353665

Its hard to explain, but with the right mindset you connect with life in a much deeper sense than just killing an animal. I almost feel...grateful that the deer was provided to me. Ive got a lot of black-foot indian, maybe thats what makes it different for me than others. Also, if hunting with firearms throws you off the idea, try a long-bow.
 Quoting: Bigbayou87

I have been living in europe for 3 years now, and the only non domesticated animals are few foxes, few dear, few types of birds (all shades of black or pigions), few types of bugs, moles, frogs, hares and hedgehogs. And people are still trying to kill those few things into extinction.

back home in south africa, there are so many types of bright, colourfull birds, lots of small animals running around and everyone knows about the larger ones in game parks.

I love nature and everything God creates, so I wish to understand the twisted logik of people who like killing animals for fun.
If i had to start surviving of the land i would instantly become vegetarian, though thats still technically killing a living thing.

I though you were related to the Windsor family? Ask them.

Considering that you have such famous relatives who actively hunt, you should know, really.

Plus considering that you think that you're one of the Two Witnesses, surely your daily communion with the Father should give you all the answers to these queries of life's simple activities.

Perhaps think about the reason why you lied to me. And the feeling that that gave you, and compare that to the feeling you get when one hunts an animal.

And realise it's about the feeling of having POWER over something, CONTROL.

Some people do it via mentally, emotionally and physically harming someone or something. Other's like some people close to you do it via lies. Others use things like racism, sexism, Homophobia etc, etc, And others do it via the use of religion or spirituality to cause fear.

So in a nutshell it's about the feeling of power, and control and the desire to RULE over something, human or otherwise.

Look at the Earth, even today, what do people do, what do you do?

What is the reason for War? To own, to control, to have power over.

Love one another as it is said.

Or you'll reap what I've said. Corruption of the flesh, you'll receive if you sow it.
 Quoting: Big'Ez

I know people like that. Sounds like mainstream hunters. Using bait, lures, scents, optics with range estimation. Always remember, though, that a question like this will have many view points. I will agree that sounds like the majority of hunters out there. For me personally, my hunting has always left me humble and understanding of the fragility of life. Nothing about killing just to kill is empowering for me.

I live in a rural area. When my country was being settled idiots decided to bring over rabbits. With no natural predator, they multiplied so much that the same idiots thought it best to bring out some foxes to kill the rabbits.
Both introduced species are still doing exceptionally well today although many native species are long gone.

Small marsupials are as much a fox staple as a rabbit and many more will go extinct because of ignorant human intervention.

Yes, I hunt. I am particular about what I hunt, and consider myself a conservationist.
Samba deer are also an introduced species to Australia from India. There numbers were kept in check in India because they have natural predators like tigers etc. In Australia though, native animals have to contend with shrinking native habitat due to human expansion or urbanization as well as rapidly expanding introduced species populations.
The Innuits' survival depends on hunting as well as many native people around the globe who do not have the luxury of a 24/7 supermarket and the correct change.

It might pay you to think a bit more before making sweeping generalizations and lumping everyone into a neat little category to sooth your wounded conscience.

As for shooting me in the foot, I could see you through a scope long before you would ever get close enough.

People who talk before thinking, give me the irrates.
