Nobody has a comment on this? The worlds oceans cannot survive a gigantic oilspill like this one. What is the effect on local marine life? Oh. I get it. Fuckinī humans only give a shit about themselves and not the other creatures that share the planet.

I dont think they got to that issue yet this disaster is so massive that its hard to get to every thing any time soon.

Imo theres mass pollution out there.

Re: Environmental Impact of gulf Oil Rigs?
how much info do you think weīll get

there was some reasonable info out there

it seems there are self-capping devices, so itīs a no big deal for the oil companies, as they have wells marked for years into the future to keep you on īoilī

still, itīs about having reading lamps for the evening, eh?

where is the real energy devices for this planet

whoīs holding them

itīs not suppressed technology, itīs being held from you all

pure and simple

Itīs not even rocket science to do it, but the black ops boys want you on oil so they can ride around in limos and blow things up

themīs are sick puppies

Re: Environmental Impact of gulf Oil Rigs?
I guess when those rigs get sheared off the moorings the actuall oil pipe is open and still flowing??

I dont know alot about platforms and there workings but this could be the BIGGER story if that oil is dribbling out into the Gulf.

You got me thinking about this now MaxBlack, this could be the worst environmental wait this could literally kill the Gulf. jeez this is bad.

good post.

Thanks for bringing this up MaxBlack. Iīve been thinking about this for a few days now. Since thereīs been virtually nothing reported on it, I was * HOPING * perhaps there indeed was some sort of īself cappingī device installed on these rigs. Once again, Iīma still * HOPING * . Time to search for more info...

The oil industry says nothing can happen. We want to drill near the Queen Charolettes Islands we have safety devices. So why no footage the old Maji trick look here not over there

Re: Environmental Impact of gulf Oil Rigs?
"In the annals of foul weather, Tropical Storm Arlene ranks as little more than a big breeze. Arlene, the first named storm of 2005, swept across the northern Gulf Coast in June with top winds of about 60 mph, dropping a mere 4 inches of rain.

But Arlene left a destructive mark on the nationīs second-oldest wildlife refuge, further fueling the ongoing debate over drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

As Arlene loomed, crew members evacuated the offshore oil and gas rigs that dot the waters off Alabama, Louisiana and Texas. After the storm passed, the crew of one Amerada Hess-owned rig returned to their platform 60 miles south of New Orleans and discovered the rig had spilled more than 550 gallons of oil.
That is a small spill - the equivalent of 45 barrels - but because the crew wasnīt there to stop it, the oil flowed into the Breton National Wildlife Refuge. Within a month, 700 birds died, nearly all of them endangered brown pelicans."

Complete article: [link to www.sptimes.com]
Hurricanes_blow_into_.shtml

Thatīs what īonlyī 550 gallons did earlier this year....

Wasnīt that 20 rigs that BROKE FREE this time? Remember, they have to hold the pumped oil on the platform until itīs loaded on to a tanker.

Ah, but doesnīt the Rigs have to be in place to plug a well head. I have a buddy who is a commercial deepsea diver who I worked for as a dive tender and he said that if the rig has been moved off the wellhead it will expend alot of oil until a crew can make a dive.

Re: Environmental Impact of gulf Oil Rigs?
hmm... there is a good chance that there may in fact be open well heads... donīt know. but as I understand it the plug is placed with concrete poured into the well head from the rig. think of the deep sea drillers, they do the same thing, move around and make new exploratory drills, I have my doubts that they send divers down to perform a plug in these environments... maybe Iīm wrong, just guessing.

Re: Environmental Impact of gulf Oil Rigs?
Concrete poured from the Rig, the stories getting out from crews is that the rigs were blown off the wellheads. I saw a picture of a rig that had collided with a bridge span in Georgia. No rig, no crew, no concrete?

If this DOES become the mother of all environmental disasters and it causes a financial collapse due to the heavy pollution affecting a huge area from north to south Americas will this be the excuse to move the U.N. troops in for martial law.Why else would the ENTIRE U.S. army be moved overseas to subdue lightly armed resistance? You donīt use Abrams tanks against a guy on foot.

Katrina Washes Out Oil Production
The U.S. Coat Guard says at least 20 oil rigs are missing in the Gulf of Mexico, while several pipelines are cut off.

You´ve got to see this video! blink
And hear the story of the damaged oil rigs.
damned
After you watch this video there are more to view click on the pictures at the bottom of the viewing screen.

One is a flyover of Interstate 10, which spans Lake Pontchartrain near New Orleans, it is severely damaged.
