Quoting: Comedianyup, I've added shit up and I could get it down to 2,200 for a moped or dirtbike style with 35MPH top speed and 20 mile range at 20MPH, but I'd rather pay 6,500 for somthing with cooler looks and more kick. OK, now you've identified some very attractive price points and performance metrics. Don't run. You'll just die tired. |

Quoting: CLAM _IGGERwe're talkin more like 20,000 here. 20,000 what, rupees, yen, SKWs, but don't say dollars. I see electric bicycles and hybrid motorcycles with variable-speed drives in the future. |

Chrit User ID: 1302953 United States 11/18/2011 01:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | One is obvious, the range, I don’t want to push it home if I screw up. Two: no gears, if the throttle sticks the bike can hit top speed very very quickly. Three If I get hit there are a few possibilities I don’t like, bike sits no top of me throttle wide open, or bike shorts out on top of me after a accident and electrocutes me. Someone turned in-front of my path a few months ago and I flew a good 30 feet over the top so I take the third reason very seriously. All in all not a bad idea but I'd still rather have a bike I can srtip down in a few hours. They "electric bikes" will come in to play as the tech gets better and better. Show us a pic when your done! I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw. We must all realize a sink a chair and a pillow are all luxuries of home and a soldiers helmet takes the place of all three. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1378399 [link to www.brammo.com] These are in the same price neighborhood and ready now. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1656607 United States 11/18/2011 01:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We all want electric toys, I want to build and sell electric street legal motorcycles, would you buy one? Quoting: GROUND ZERO The first one I plan on building will include theese things: Mars 0708 Permanent Magnet DC Motor Kelly KD48401 Contoller 4 Optima 34D 55Ah deep cycle, 12.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, AGM batteries Availible on 1980s style frame and crotch rocket, both versions are capable of 55 MPH and have a twenty three mile range at 30MPH. 1980s frame gos for 5,000 and crotch rocket gos for 6,500(crotch rocket displays no electronis) Battery uprgrades to 3.20 volt lithium ion can increase range to 40-50 miles at 30 MPH but will throw 1,200 in aditional costs. Motor upgrades to either advance DC or AC can increase top speed upto 120MPH but would add inbetween 500-2500 in additional cost. Theese cycles cost less than 0.01 cents per mile to operate. WOULD YOU BUY ONE? (incase ur thinking about one with real motorcycle range and speed we're talkin 20-40k) If I had a motorcycle that couldn't keep up with the slow lane, I would wish for doom everyday. Also you cannot call it a crotch rocket, you can call it a crotch vibrator. 23 miles is also a joke. |
