RE: Elenin. I don't understand the NASA physical parameter table for total comet magnitude. They state the value is 10.8 measured in "mag" units. So....exactly how big is this bitch?

Hey, you are right about magnitude being brightness, but the lower the number, the brighter the object, and the numbers DO go into the negative. This Elenin is only about 1 mile across, and even with a direct impact, this will not release enough energy to call it will be an ELE. Quit watching movies so much. We will more than likely go through a substantial amount of tail debris, as the comet passes our path 13 days before we get there, but, if anything, these pieces of debris will cause some electrical interference and maybe, MAYBE hit a car or a building or something like that. But rest assured, the Earth will still be here on Oct 22 & on March 22.
I'm glad there's all this speculation right now. Hopefully after these dates pass all the bible thumpers and religious nuts will start to realize how they have been duped all this time by one of man's most nefarious creations: religion. I mean, think about it: The only reason you know who your daddy is is because mom told you. We believe the things our parents tell us when we're young, and we hold those ideals as true from as far back as we can remember. And if people are lying to you your whole life and telling you there is a God and blah blah blah you will grow up believing these things and teach them to your kids and so on and so on. Now here we are, tens of thousands of years later, with no better grasp on reality (because of religion) and people believing in fairy-tales to the point that they will actually kill other human beings (other Sentient beings) over it.
I think the religion experiment is over and it's time for people to face the facts. I know facts are a cold-hearted bitch. And I also know how hard it is to accept the fact that you've been lied to your whole life. But it's okay. We've all been lied to. It's up to us, NOW, to change things for the better and stop relying on outdated, imperialistic dogma created by man to keep other humans in line.
