***IMF CHIEF ARRESTED --IMF Leadership in DISARRAY*** | |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1286880 Australia 05/15/2011 02:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [Interesting piece of article] Mr. Strauss-Kahn, 62, was headed to Europe to discuss the worsening European debt crisis with top leaders there. He was scheduled to meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Sunday and financial ministers in the Euro Group on Monday and Tuesday. Besides putting the finishing touches on the €78 billion Portugal bailout package, the main focus of the meetings was how to resolve Greece's deteriorating sovereign debt crisis. The arrest of the head of one of the world's most important financial institutions comes at a time when the global economy is still recovering from the 2008 financial crisis, and when Europe is still reeling from a still-unfolding series of government debt crises. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1313458 India 05/15/2011 02:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Framed? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1383397Not unlikely! I found this quote from the article rather telling, 'He has strongly supported the Greek rescue, even in the face of growing doubts about the Greek government's ability and resolve to meet the commitments of the international aid package. His latest trip was likely to focus on whether to adjust the terms of Greece's loans in order to keep the country—and the rest of the euro zone—from falling into a deeper crisis.' WHat his could mean is that 'someone' did not want the Greek bailout to go through but STrauss-Kahn allowed it and he needed to be punished. The possible reason for not wanting the Geek bailout would have meant a crash of the Euro and a huge spike for the USD. The other likely reason to farme him might have ben his growing chance of nomination for the French presidency. Besides these two possible reasons there could be a myriad other reasons... The timing of the arrest and NY Police's quick action in arresting him and charging him does suggest there are powers that want him out... |

Marty McFly User ID: 1384018 United States 05/15/2011 02:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Top French politician Dominique Strauss-Kahn dragged off flight at JFK, accused of sodomizing maid Manuel Balce Ceneta, AP [link to theinfounderground.com] IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn is in hot water with American authorities. A top French politician nicknamed "the great seducer" was dragged off a flight at Kennedy Airport Saturday after he was accused of sodomizing a Manhattan hotel maid, sources said. Port Authority cops grabbed Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the head of the International Monetary Fund and a presidential hopeful in France, moments before his Air France plane took off about 4:45 p.m. Strauss-Kahn, 62, allegedly crept up behind a maid after she entered his room and forced her to perform oral sex on him, sources said. The woman broke free and ran out of the room. Strauss-Khan quickly headed for the airport, sources said. Charges against Strauss-Kahn, who is married to well-known French TV journalist Anne Sinclair, were pending Saturday night, sources said. Hours before Strauss-Kahn was pulled from the flight, a close Socialist Party ally claimed he was the target of a smear campaign by French President Nicolas Sarkozy. "There is now a totally structured and orchestrated campaign, which has already been announced by Mr. Sarkozy and his closest allies, to attack the character of Strauss-Kahn," Socialist politician Jean-Marie Le Guen told Europe 1 radio. This is not the first time Strauss-Kahn has been embroiled in a sex scandal. Three years ago, the former French finance minister was accused of having a fling with a former underling at the Davos international forum. |
