Events prior to the Lord’s Second Coming
1 Now, dear brothers and sisters,[a] let us clarify some things about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we will be gathered to meet him. 2 Don’t be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Don’t believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us. 3 Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction.[c] 4 He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.

5 Don’t you remember that I told you about all this when I was with you? 6 And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only when his time comes. 7 For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way. 8 Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will kill him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming.

9 This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. 10 He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them. 11 So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies. 12 Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth.
Believers Should Stand Firm
13 As for us, we can’t help but thank God for you, dear brothers and sisters loved by the Lord. We are always thankful that God chose you to be among the first[d] to experience salvation—a salvation that came through the Spirit who makes you holy and through your belief in the truth. 14 He called you to salvation when we told you the Good News; now you can share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 With all these things in mind, dear brothers and sisters, stand firm and keep a strong grip on the teaching we passed on to you both in person and by letter.

16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, 17 comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.

i'm thinking if it's anything it will be bluebeam. the date seems to have been pushed covertly by tptb and has the religious theme. would be entertaining, but cheezy.

It seems pretty likely that this would be the case. That's why these guys are so "sure" that it will happen on the 21st. That also explains how they can afford the cost of putting up thousands of billboards, even in some tows here in SE Georgia. They don't sell anything, yet they manage to pay for large signs across the world. They even publicize this stuff on news networks pretty often to get the idea in peoples heads. I work at a car dealership and plenty of your average non GLP folk are talking about this day. Smells like a psy op to me.

OP, the difference between the real rapture and the fake rapture will be this. (Speculation)
The fake UFO invasion (projections in the sky) will send down a beam where people will voluntarily walk in which will telephony them inside these "UFOs" where they will be killed. They have technology to teleport these days. The UFOs seen today are nothing but government testings. They used Nikola Tesla's blue print for flying saucers and are nowadays able to use gravity to fly in extreme speeds and do 90 degree turns. The elites are far ahead in technology.
Anyway... the real rapture will not make you voluntarily enter the beams. The real rapture will "select" you. That's the difference. The "UFOs" seen today is probably just to hype the world into believing there are other life forms in the universe which they have managed to succeed. About 90% believe there are aliens. They're now ready to execute project blue beam!

if blue beam were to actually happen, it would be the last card played. no going back from there and if it failed the agenda would be game over. I would think all the other cards would be played before a massive hoax such as that. I would also guess 2012 has been pushed more than may 21 and that seems like a more accurate timeline given the rate events have been unfolding lately. alot of other hands have been dealt recently I think one would save the ace for when all else fails....

I don't think there will be a fake rapture. When the anti-Christ arrives he won't be here to rapture people away...he will be here to deceive people while among them, with false miracles and wonders.

I am becoming slowly convinced that someone, something, or some group is trying very hard to make this look like the Apocalypse. There are way too many things made to look that way and the media and other agents of the Beast are really pushing them.

This is not it. If this were the work of the One True God we would know it in our spirits. Besides, it doesn't match with Scripture. Not enough of the prophecies have been fulfilled for this to be the work of God.

If one believes in the faith that is Christianity I do not understand how they could possibly fall for the idea that May 21st is the Rapture unless they are uneducated about their faith, which most Christians, sadly are.

I think the whole idea of a fake rapture is to give the illusion to lukewarm unaware sheeples that we were all left behind. many disillusioned people will there be from this.. IE: "THE GREAT FALLING AWAY"

I think that the great falling away will happen as a result of the cunning of the anti-Christ and his fake miracles such as mimicking Christ by seeming to heal people.

When people see what appear to be miraculous cures of diseases such as cancer and handicaps many will be deceived. This will lead them to believe the lies of the anti-Christ that he is God and his corrupted reinterpretation of the teachings in the Bible. Then people will "fall away" from the true original Holy Scripure.
