TRANSFORMERS (more than meets the eye?!) COMPILATION OF 39+ TRANSFORMER INCIDENTS past month
Here's a list of compiled transformer incidents that have happened within the last 3 1/2 weeks. I don't know if this is the usual number of transformer fires, explosions, and problems over the course of three and a half weeks, but it seems kind of high to me. I left out several in India and Africa which could simply be attributed to poor infrastructure, and also disregarded reports blaming wrecks, storms, or squirrels.

This is crazy.

Now I wonder- how are the animals doing in these locations? Any birds fall out of the sky for example?

I think its birds blowing the power grid transformers. Something is screwing with the birds heads and they fly into the power lines and go boom.

I knew this happened outside of a place I worked at. Two ducks took off and the lead duck flew into the power transformer whereby it exploded. Duck number two was blown out of the sky since it was right behind duck number 1.

Duck 1 was toast and duck 2 was smoking but still kicking. shocking.

EMF ----- transformers are coils, that usually step down the AC power to say 220v.

Transmitions, or solar flares could indeed cause over voltage that would blow transformers - lightning yes.
birds shorting out terminals - yes

They do ware out ----- the old ones have toxic stuff - probably lead also.

Re: TRANSFORMERS (more than meets the eye?!) COMPILATION OF 39+ TRANSFORMER INCIDENTS past month
Nice compilation, OP.

I hate to throw a wrench into this, but seeing as this is the month of May, coming directly after the month of April, let's just say that April showers bring May flowers. So considering there's been considerable rain in many locations, adding to the moisture in transformers, combined with a probable lack of maintenance of many of these, what we are seeing is the result of lack of maintenance + moisture.

Here's a great article about transformers and maintenance and what causes them to break down:

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1358737

EXACTLY!

This could very well be normal. For example, over the last couple of years we've seemingly have gotten use to seeing major EQ, and more of them, but when you compare stats from the past 10 years they really aren't all that out of whack.

In this case before jumping on the band wagon of blaming ET's or something crazy like that, compare how many transformers get damaged yearly since 2005 for example. Then take a look at if they are all the same brand, and type of transformer, then check any anomalies in weather patterns for that day, and so on and so forth...then and ONLY then can you get a clear picture of what the problem might be. Anything else at this point is just fueled by mass hysteria by some of the doom dorks on this site.

cheers

Think of being underwater - with wave action becoming increasingly forceful - literal holes opening up exposing the ocean floor to the air above - a parting of the waters, so to speak. Then throw in the ocean currents going chaotic in this mix and you have a recipe for all things acclimated to operating underwater to start to 'short-circuit' and fail as the underwater environment is eliminated and one moves into the air 'above'.
