you're thinking jet stream...gulf stream is a warm current that runs along the east coast of the US if that was over the US most of us would be dead from having drowned

Yes the jet stream is some what stalled over the usa, the weather patterns especially around the north east and east coast are very screwy. This is a la nina year that might have something to do with it.
