FYI, the population of the Twin Cities area of Minneapolis/St. Paul is over 3 million, so when a tornado hits, there is going to be damage. ![]() |

LadyLeo (OP) User ID: 853309 ![]() 05/22/2011 07:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | is this a place where tornadoes normally happen at? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1394764Well the mid west does get it's shares of tornado's but going right into the downtown is kind of a big deal because it is densely populated. |
Vision Thing User ID: 1110850 ![]() 05/22/2011 07:13 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Missed this thread earlier. Was watching the helicopters fly over the damaged areas, it was really severe, so many smashed houses and destroyed trees. Hope it missed Bryn Mawr, I know people there. Hope there won't be fires either, but I can't imagine how there couldn't be. The sound of chainsaws and the smell of wet elm wood - that is spring/summer in the Twin Cities. Reminds me of growing up, so many big trees, so much storm damage. They mentioned "worst in Mpls in 30 years" I lived in a house in the early eighties that had been hit in that South Minneapolis tornado back then, there was still glass particles embedded in the paint of the woodwork and in the corners of the rug. It blew all the windows in. |
