I never knew the facts stated in #1 and #2, Wow! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1385446![]() + + + 1. Only 1/3 of the New Testament was written by any of the 12 Apostles. (Matt; John; I, II, III John; Rev; James, I, II Peter; Jude) 2. Only 5 of the Apostles are represented in the New Testament canon. (The Church is built on all 12 Apostles. Eph 2:4; Rev 21:14) 3. Since it was the Church itself (not the original Apostles) that determined which writings were to be accepted as Scripture, the Church (Bishops in union with Peter's chair) must have the Apostolic "gift" as it had been passed down to them from the Apostles who received it directly from Jesus Christ the Son of God. True, true, true, that's what it is all about, Apostolic Succession. ![]() |

It's a shame the Roman Catholic Church decided to split off from the Orthodox Church, isn't it? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1399519Blinded, it's the other way around Australia. You'll all will return at the Great Warning. |

The Roman Catholic Church was mad that the Orthodox Church wouldn't copy the changes. So the pope back then declared the Orthodox Church is heretic for NOT CHANGING. "Reunion could take place in this context if, on the one hand, the East would cease to oppose as heretical the developments that took place in the West in the second millennium and would accept the Catholic Church as legitimate and orthodox in the form she had acquired in the course of that development, while, on the other hand, the West would recognize the Church of the East as orthodox and legitimate in the form she has always had. You understand that Cardinal Ratzinger wrote that the Orthodox Church is orthodox and legitimate? The Roman Catholic Church got mad that the Orthodox Church wouldn't accept the pope as the king of the world. So the Roman Catholic Church split. You can't call the Orthodox Church heretics for NOT CHANGING. |

Idolatry, heresy, Mary Worship, elevation of priests -- all of these things trump apostolic succession. God had to leave the Catholic Church once its "changes" got out of control and the possibility of reform from with in too difficult. It is sad. I recognize the fact that there "should" be one church -- and it grieves God's heart that the split had to happen. But you guys strayed way too far and let your imaginations run havock over the Gospel. Mary, Queen of heaven? That's blasphemy my friend. |
