I've been suspicious of their motives from the beginning. Their over the top actions serve as a premise for legislation, such as restricting first amendment rights.

These people are simply following the old testament as best they can. Because our legal system prohibits stoning people to death, these protests are the best alternative for obeying God's holy word. More Christians should follow their lead and stop cherrypicking the bible, ignoring the parts that modern society finds offensive.
