The United States was playing both sides.
The Liberty fed communications intelligence regarding Israeli troop movements to Egypt,
which then cost Israeli lives.
Israeli removed the threat that was costing them lives.
The United States did not and does not wish to openly reveal the operations of the Liberty
so the issue remains as is, for some Jew-haters to use as they must.
