Thatīs why the 4th & 5th amendments say īpeopleī and īpersonī and not īAmericansī and īcitizensī. Amendment IV The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. Anonymous Coward User ID: 15672 ![]() 09/07/2005 04:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Lake George Submitted by Sussel on Wed, 2005-09-07 12:48. Media Wonkette says that federal bureaucrats angry over the funding cuts for levee projects and related anti-flood programs in New Orleans have come up with a name for the mess down there: Lake George. And she had email from "a friend at the EPA." If this can be verfied, it will show that the Iraq-related slowdown in federal levee work is directly related to the breach that caused the flooding that has killed at least hundreds. Here´s what her federal source reports: We´re naming it Lake George, ´cause it´s his frickin fault. Have you seen all that data about the levee projects´ funding being cut over the past three years by the Prez, and the funding transferred to Iraq? The levee, as designed, might not have held back the surge from a direct Class 5 hit, but it certainly would not have crumbled on Monday night from saturation and scour erosion following a glancing blow from a Class 3. The failure was in a spot that had just been rebuilt, not yet compacted, not planted, and not armed (hardened with rock/concrete). The project should have been done two years ago, but the federal gov´t diverted 80% of the funding to Iraq. Other areas had settled by a few feet from their design specs, and the money to repair them was diverted to Iraq. |

One that really irked me was the Kyoto treaty mention. We should just continue to wantonly spew greenhouse gasses into the environment, tell the global scientific community to get bent, and brace for the next series of Katrina-class storms? Pshaw. |

I canīt think of a single thing they are good for then if health care, education and care for the elderly should be in the hands of private enterprise. I mean, with health care unprivatized, the US might actually rank higher than 54th in the 54 nations in the OECD. Ooops, ![]() Over the side and damn the barracuda |
Ed User ID: 17426 ![]() 09/08/2005 06:07 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The biggest problem is that media has been economically seized and American society has been trained to perceive the right as the middle. Thus, left-wing has come to mean that something like disagreement with the Iraqi war is a radical idea. Come to think of it, thinking as an independent citizen, who is in search of reliable information upon which to make a decision, is no longer part of the political process. I lived out of the U.S. for many years and a few summers ago I visited America as a vacation. The evening news announcer on a national network had this computer-generated flag wave behind her, and there was this patriotic-sounding marching band music as the huge title said "Operation Iraqi Freedom." I was shocked because media in Europe is not at all like this, the BBC model of journalism makes an effort to present news as objectively as it can, and there is a standard procedure that good journalism means verifying information from a second, independent source, but in the U.S. it is enough for the CIA to issue some bullshit (actually reshaped by the warhawks in the White House) and Americans accept this as the truth. which, by the way, I do not understand why Americans so quickly accepted all those WMD reports as true when their CIA was clueless about such things as the fall of the Soviet Union or the attack on New York. At any rate, the mass media in the U.S. is right-wing but presents itself as neutral, objective news, which comes back to me beginning point: The biggest problem is that media has been economically seized and American society has been trained to perceive the right as the middle. This shifting has also caused Americans to become brainwashed by propaganda such as waving flags and patriotic music and words like FREEDOM, words which have been mercilessly raped just as George Orwell foresaw. Bush said, when he was playing war hero with his leather flight jacket on that ship, "This war is actually about peace." And I could not help but remember the doublethink from Orellīs 1984: "War is Peace" "Freedom is Slavery" etc. Yīall better start fighting (within your minds) to see past the music and the false language or else truly you will be living in a police state, a condition of onethink tyranny. Even now, it seems to me that Americans cannot effectively organize through any existing organization or institutions, meaning each person is isolated and cannot effect much change. At some point, it will probably come to another grassroots movement like we saw in the sixties. But this time around, your rights have been stripped away and the media is far more controlled, so you may expect to be beaten and interrogated. Good Luck, perhaps I will return to America if such a situation arises, until then, I prefer watching the idiocy from a distance. |

That is why they have no constitutional rights. There are many people that come into this country legally and yes they have constitutional rights. Any criminal loses their rights when they break the law and are convicted. They donīt call them "illegal" aliens just for the fun of it. They have broken the law period no maybe about it, and should be immeadiatly removed from the country. If they come back then they should be jailed and put to work just like they wanted. OP, you are the one that is brainwashed here! Only an idiot or a brainwashed person could believe most of the crap you have posted here. Bush won the 2000 election is a prime example. With the grace of his electronic voting machines he stole the 2004 elections also. Isnīt it amazing for the first time ever the exit polls did not match what the real polls showed. Isnīt it amazing that the Bush administration couldnīt imagine that something like 9/11 would happen and then when Katrina hit they couldnīt imagine that either. Seems we need somebody in office that has a little bit more imagination or the ability to think for themselves maybe. What an idiot! |
