Sony Hacked again. 1,000,000 users' personal information compromised
Sony hacked again.

"We recently broke into SonyPictures.com and compromised over 1,000,000 users'
personal information, including passwords, email addresses, home addresses,
dates of birth, and all Sony opt-in data associated with their accounts.
Among other things, we also compromised all admin details of Sony Pictures
(including passwords) along with 75,000 "music codes" and 3.5 million "music coupons".

What's worse is that every bit of data we took wasn't encrypted. Sony stored
over 1,000,000 passwords of its customers in plaintext, which means it's just
a matter of taking it. This is disgraceful and insecure: they were asking for it."

Who are they looking for, these 'hackers'?

Their website for login is still down for maintance. If anything they should take down everysite they have and rebuild the data base from scratch.
The thing is, when your information is out on the web, it can all be hacked. So the fact people are at all surprized that this has happened are living in a dream world.
I do believe that Sony will need to make people feel more secure to re-earn their business by offering them more than a free video rental or game. They will need to offer gamers vouchers for free games and free access to their premium service. Secondly, they might need to provide people wil free vouchers to participating theaters for up coming Sony movies to make people feel as if they are getting something back from the company.

I does sound like a conspriacy doesn't it....The car issues was just a bunch of crap to make them look bad and give American Cars the boost they need to rebound from putting out crappy cars..

God damn, wtf? Did Sony decide to Declare a Palestinian State? I mean wtf did Sony do?

Why is it that Sony and Japan is being targeted?

Why not hack into Micro$oft, or some Security Site to prove a point. Let's you idiots hack into Norton or Eset. They're $elling us software to "protect" us, so let's see how secure their severs are.

What point are you trying to make by attacking Sony? Jealous much?

No, Sony was targeted originally for different reasons than what it is being targeted for now. Sony is being targeted now because of the lack of security holes being fixed across the board. They proved Sony had a huge security flaw in it's PSN network...Sony responded by fixing those holes (or so they say, hehe). Now, they are attacking the other areas of Sony that should have already been fixed.

Here's an example...you have a dirty table and somebody points that out to you. Instead of cleaning the entire table, you decide to only clean one area of it. Does that new, shiny spot not stand out? That one spot is perfectly clean, yes, but the attention now gets drawn to the other dirty areas that you never cleaned.

It's purely a slap in the face to Sony at this point is all.

Hmmm... interesting.

And pretty embarrassing.

I thought the Japanese had it figured out better than that, when it comes to security.

Sort of seems out of character.

Very embarrassing, because they should have had people fixing everything simultaneously in areas they knew were similar to the PSN scenario.

Luckily for Sony, Lulz only posted 20,000 of the music coupons due to being "lulzy" :)

Its retaliation for geohot getting busted. but these attacks... they've gone on so long that it just isn't LULZ-y anymore.

Add the facts that (1) they're really starting to stir the shit-pot right around the time congress thinks it might be a good idea to censor the internet and (2) somewhere along the line people started blaming anonymous for LULZSEC attacks.

that, and the all cognitive dissonance in teh internets surrounding this whole episode just smells fucking fishy to me.

LOL, the clothing line I decide to wear shouldn't concern you, nor does it determine the experience I have in any specific martial arts discipline.

Lol @ people asking what Sony did. The very fact that a multi-billion dollar company has such shit security over its customer's information is enough to make it a target for any hacker. "Well intentioned" or not.

And lets not forget, this is the same company that used their merchandise to install rootkits on their customer's computers, sued a person into bankruptcy over something he installed on HIS OWN property(Linux on a PS3 for God's sake), and has made many other ethically questionable decisions.
The second you resort to insults is the second you lose the debate. Take a deep breath.

So some hackers committed a crime and it's Sony's fault? LOL

That's like blaming 9/11 on the WTC. It's not the terrorists fault that the WTC didn't have some time of defense against 2 Jets.

It is their fault for having such an incompetence network security policy. No encryption at all on the customer files.
