To be apart of Hollywood, In hip hop, movie star, model or a singer..You have to join the OTO..Sell your soul to the devil..I wonder why some of the singers that won on American Idol you don't hear of them anymore..Did they realize what they have to do to be famous??

In all seriousness I gotta break character here and call bullshit on that.

Just as far as film and television is concerned (which I can speak of with a bit of authority) there are MANY different ways someone can become a movie "star". But it's a bit more complicated than that. First off becoming a "star" is something entirely different than being a "working actor" doing quality work. And most actors I know want to do "quality work".

People become actors/actresses for all kinds of different reasons. Most fail. Some succeed. There are definitely "shady" origins to some of their careers. Certain people have definitely "fucked" certain other people and so on...

But more than anything the single common demoninator which determines whether or not someone has a film/television career: talent.

If you don't believe me, try going on a few auditions. See how "easy" it is.

Most film actors (and television actors) are successful because they're talented. Not only that but they work hard at what they do.

At it's most relevant, acting is a profession. It is an art. It's not just walking in front of photographers and having your picture taken at premieres and "charity" events...

I'm not an actor but I have too much respect for actors and what they do to not defend them.

You can't "sell your sould to the devil" for talent. You can "sell your soul to the devil" (rhetorically speaking) by blowing some producer and getting a bit part in a film. Absolutely. It's been done and it will continue to be done.

But the "actors" blowing people for roles are the untalented masses desperate to be "famous". The talented actors and actresses who want to do good work....those are the ones who'd rather put a shotgun in their mouths than blow anyone for anything.
