Anonymous Coward User ID: 986018 United States 06/03/2011 11:17 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Supporters of this bill claim that all it's really doing is harmonizing US copyright law's civil and criminal sections. After all, the rights afforded under copyright law in civil cases cover a list of rights: reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works or perform the work. The rules for criminal infringement only cover reproducing and distributing -- but not performing. So, supporters claim, all this does is "harmonize" copyright law and bring the criminal side into line with the civil side by adding "performance rights" to the list of things. Quoting: UR[link to www.techdirt.com] So basically it states that if you embed a YouTube video that turns out to be infringing, and more than 10 people view it because of your link... you could be facing five years Well...what should we do about this GLP? Taking suggestions on how to protest this garbage. GooD find OP. U could have a mass posting on government sites. |

We can flood GLP with video embedding...lol Quoting: Anonymous Coward 862248LOL, if that was to be done, it would have to be done across the web on the biggest sites. If we do what you are suggesting, we would only get GLP in trouble. Good suggestion though. :) |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 986018This isn't a bad idea at all, but we'd have to find sites they let the public post on. Although I have my masters in Information Security and my CISSP certification, I'm not about to get caught hacking a government site. |

Not all countries have extradition treaties with America. lol Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1393124LOL, I doubt other countries really care if the US gets screwed with embedding videos, unless we can raise money to pay them to protest? Maybe? |

And now CONgress wants to imprison people for posting videos on the internet. Yup. That is logical progression. Makes perfect sense. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 475538Tell the Senator to go fuck off. What he says is of no consequence and the voice of the people is what matters. Tell his ass NO. And now CONgress wants to imprison people for posting videos on the internet. Yup. That is logical progression. Makes perfect sense. Oh, and just for fun... Senators Amy Klobuchar, John Cornyn and Christopher Coons ... Klobuchar is proud of her 'service' to the 'community' as a state Prosecutor in minnseota's largest county (and is one of the homeliest senators you'll find) and is a Democrat and Yale grad. Cornyn is proud of his service to his community and state as a district judge, Texas supreme court judge and texas attorney general (the state's ''chief law enforcement officer'' and has been a Republican senator since 2002. Coon is ... surprise surprise... another lawyer! He failed to 'serve' his community as a prosecutor or judge though, like the other two. He instead worked for 'WL Gore and Ass.' as one of their attorneys and helped 'WL Gore create jobs for the community'. He's a Democrat and new to CONgress. So when these asshats claim to 'not be certain' if their new proposed law would imprison a guy for downloading a video on youtube, you know they are LIARS. These lawyers always claim, after the fact, to have not known of the 'unintended consequences' of their laws. BS. They are all lawyers. 'When Plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men, they create for themselves, in the course of time, a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it.' Frederic Bastiat, 'The Law' 1850 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "The business of the journalists is to destroy the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it, and what folly is this toasting an independent press? We are the tools and vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes." JohnSwinton, 1830-1901, Former chief-of-staff New York Times ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "The bold effort the present bank has made to control the Government, the distress it has wantonly produced ... are but premonitions of the fate that awaits the American People should they be deluded into a perpetuation of this institution (The Bank of the United States), or the establishment of another like it." MSM constantly uses youtube videos created by users without paying for the right. wtf? |
