3 months before the much awaited Elenin encounter and NASA publishes this disaster preparedness initiative?

Isn't a quite a coincidence that the Boy Scouts started using the motto "be prepared" in 1906? Isn't it quite a coincidence that the Association of Contingency Planners was founded in 1983 to promote contingency planning and disaster recovery planning?

It's not like we've gone a year without hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, fires, landslides, volcanoes, etc. in the world to plan for. But for some people, it doesn't matter where they look, but all they see is some fantasy celestial object bringing doom and gloom.

What is the problem with you people? There was no "Planet X" discovered in 1983. If you are referring to IRAS, none of the new objects mentioned in the article that they found were in our solar system. And none of them were planets.

FEMA buying up dehydrated food in mass bulk, issuing earthquake warnings is Fantasy.

The allignment of this "fantastic celestial object" created 3 of the world's largest earthquakes in the past couple years.

I'm not the one living in fear of a tiny comet. And I'm not the ignorant fool that is looking for some external object to blame earthquakes on. How difficult is it for you to understand that earthquakes are caused by the movement of the tectonic plates due to convection currents below them?

And why do you feel the overwhelming need to blame earthquakes in the earthquake prone Ring of Fire on some external object? It's not like there aren't earthquakes daily in the Ring of Fire. And on the average, there are 150 earthquakes per year of magnitude 6.0 or greater. Statistically, that would mean that you could expect an earthquake of magnitude 6.0 or greater every 2.5 days or so. But, because of a gravitationally insignificant object in some sort of magical alignment, you propagate a fairy tale about the object causing earthquakes rather than acknowledging the reality that earthquakes are common occurrences caused by the internal heating of the Earth.

Not to mention that theories change all the time. Scientists are now theorizing that planet alignments with the sun can cause flares and CME's. Its all a big theory till its proven, and usually the simplest answer is the correct one. We may never know what is causing this increased activity, or we may find out in October. :)

That video was almost more than I could stand.

How can Terral have so many videos on this subject, be so dead serious and probably be convincing a good amount of people they need to leave their work, ect. And, yet not be able to explain how Elenin (or anything else for that matter) could be a brown dwarf star at that close of proximity and not be causing purbatrations in the other planets.

Just that one single, little fact should be discussed by anyone making this serious of a claim.

Heck, I would take him alot more serious, if he just said - I don't know what this is, but I am convinced that it is going to kill us all.

for the California Institute of Technology, said in an interview.

The most fascinating explanation of this mystery body, which is so cold it casts no light and
has never been seen by optical telescopes on Earth or in space, is that it is a giant gaseous
planet as large as Jupiter and as close to Earth as 50 trillion miles. While that may seem like a
great distance in earthbound terms, it is a stone's throw in cosmological terms, so close in fact
that it would be the nearest heavenly body to Earth beyond the outermost planet Pluto.

"If it is really that close, it would be a part of our solar system," said Dr. James Houck of
Cornell University's Center for Radio Physics and Space Research and a member of the
IRAS science team. "If it is that close, I don't know how the world's planetary scientists
would even begin to classify it."

The mystery body was seen twice by the infrared satellite as it scanned the northern sky from
last January to November, when the satellite ran out of the supercold helium that allowed its
telescope to see the coldest bodies in the heavens. The second observation took place six
months after the first and suggested the mystery body had not moved from its spot in the sky
near the western edge of the constellation Orion in that time.

"This suggests it's not a comet because a comet would not be as large as the one we've
observed and a comet would probably have moved," Houck said. "A planet may have moved
if it were as close as 50 trillion miles but it could still be a more distant planet and not have
moved in six months time."

Whatever it is, Houck said, the mystery body is so cold its temperature is no more than 40
degrees above "absolute" zero, which is 456 degrees Fahrenheit below zero. The telescope
aboard IRAS is cooled so low and is so sensitive it can "see" objects in the heavens that are
only 20 degrees above absolute zero.

When IRAS scientists first saw the mystery body and calculated that it could be as close as
50 trillion miles, there was some speculation that it might be moving toward Earth.
