TEPCO begins removing spent fuel at Fukushima Daini plant
FUKUSHIMA — Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), the operator of the stricken Fukushima Daichi nuclear power plant, has begun removing the fuel assemblies from the Fukushima Daini nuclear power plant’s fourth reactor.

According to TEPCO, all four reactors at Fukushima Daini, which is located around 11 kilometers from Fukushima Daiichi, automatically shut down after the March 11 disaster. TEPCO has been working on “repairing” the reactor, which it says involves removing spent fuel assemblies, each containing bundles of fuel rods, by crane and placing them into a pool of water, TBS reported Wednesday.

TEPCO says the work on reactor 4 has been proceeding faster than the other reactors and that it plans to remove all 764 assemblies by Oct 24. Media were invited to the plant on Tuesday to observe the process.

Crippled Fukushima Daiichi No. 2 reactor gets new thermometer
The operator of the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant installed a thermometer on Wednesday at the bottom of the No. 2 reactor pressure vessel, succeeding in increasing the number of devices that can properly monitor the temperature of that area to two.

@ Waterbug,

how do the Ac from Japan can bring Evidence
that we are not die in the Millions here in Nippon?

This is very difficult Popcorn

The Numbers of Deaths related to Fukushima are
still around ca. 2.000 which included all the
old People who was forced to evacuate.

Well.. that's not the issue. Radioactive contamination is variable in its effects.
The sickness and deaths will come soon enough. Anyone with a brain knows this.

Care to post the abortion statistics from Japan since 3.11.11..?
Stillbirths..? Mutations..? Should be seeing them by now.
If we are not.. it would fly in the face of science.
Where are the results of independent medical testing..?

The tone of his posts was to ridicule this thread and the information we offer.
Refute the information with some kind of substantiation or STFU.

I posted the actual Statistic in the last Spring,
until the end of 2011 no Impact was seen,
the Problem is the Depopulation.
(means that many People left Fukushima,
spec. the pregnant Women.
This is not good for a meaningful Statistic!)

Also we should not forget the People who aborted
their Babies because of Fear!

We know from Chernobyl that more than 50.000 Women
aborted their Babies in the months after 04/26.1986,
this is horrible!

Nice try, but...I will not allow you to generalize my role in this. I am not responsible for anyone else's statements.
I realize there has been sensationalism.. that is how people get pinned and for many of them, that is the objective.
Not so here. This thread has been pinned a grand total of once.. and that was an indignant CP using karma..

My goal is to attempt to find and present the facts to the best of my ability.
I am biased against liars, stupidity and nuclear technology.
I've made no secret of that.

Favourite for UK nuclear reactor contract ends bid
One of the favourite bidders for a multi-billion pound project to build a new generation of nuclear reactors in Britain has pulled out of the race.

French engineering group Areva was expected to table a bid, along with the China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation, for the much-vaunted Horizon joint venture but did not make a final offer by a deadline on Friday, it was reported on Tuesday night.

The withdrawal of the Franco-Chinese consortium narrows the field down to a two-horse race between a group led by Hitachi of Japan and Westinghouse Electric, which is owned by Toshiba. Horizon owns two vacant reactor sites, in Wylfa in Anglesey and Oldbury in Gloucestershire.

exactly this Type of Videos make it so difficult

There is no Background Info about this Video,

we know nothing and People like you don't

As i wrote it already some Times i belong to a Group

While I'm at it...

Do you deny the existence of pregnant women in Japan, in the vicinity of Fukshima-Daiichi during emissions..?
Do you deny the high radiation at the time of the emissions..?
Do you deny that people were in the plume unknowingly because the SPEEDI evacuation system was not immediately implemented.. and when it was.. it directed some people into the plume instead of away from it..?
Do you deny the effects of radiation on foetus..?

So.. where are the reports of the stillbirths, the mal-formed..?
Are you saying there is nothing out of the ordinary..?

I ain't a-buyin' it.

Yes, there was and there are pregnant Women in F'Shima,
there was a "relative" High Emission
and "ca. 2.000 People" stayed in a Place which got
more Radiation than expected!

Every form of Radiation is harmful, not only for the Foetus!

Where are the Stillbirths, the deformed or harmed Babies?
Hmmm, maybe in other Prefectures and all in a small Number
because so many People evacuated from there to Tokyo,
to Sendai, Nagano or to the South!

The Evacuation was not perfect
but much better than i thought,
People like you underestimate the Destruction from the Quake

And that this 2.000 People got more contaminated than
necessary was mostly because of the Major of that Town,
he peculated important Information!
But even with this Incident the Contamination was very low!
(for three molten Reactors)

We need to wait, this is the only thing we can do,

Fukushima plant's reactor No.2 has new thermometer
The operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant has installed a new thermometer inside its Number 2 reactor. Monitoring efforts continue at the facility that was declared in a state of cold shutdown last year.

Tokyo Electric Power Company fitted the thermometer on Wednesday. Only one device out of the existing 5 has been working properly near the bottom of the reactor's pressure vessel.

The thermometer showed 42.7 degrees Celsius. An existing device nearby has been measuring 45.8 degrees.

Hokuriku Elec. asserts safety of Shika nuclear plant in court
Hokuriku Electric Power Co. sought on Wednesday the dismissal of a lawsuit in which some 120 people are demanding that the No. 2 reactor of the Shika nuclear power plant on the Sea of Japan coast be suspended due to safety concerns.

In the first hearing at the Kanazawa District Court, the utility said, "Safety is sufficiently secured," while the plaintiffs argued that a geological fault under the plant's No. 1 reactor must be active and could result in a severe accident.

Europe's nuclear plants need $13-32 billion upgrade
BRUSSELS (AFP) - From missing seismic devices to insufficient emergency systems, Europe's nuclear power plants face hundreds of problems requiring billions in new investment, a European Union report said Tuesday.

EU-sponsored stress tests conducted on 134 reactors point to a myriad of potential safety hazards, notably in Britain, France and Spain, according to a report obtained by AFP. But it does not go as far as recommending the closure of a single plant.

Flammable Gas In Hanford Waste Tanks Concerns Nuclear Watchdog
[link to www.nwpr.org]

[snip]

Specifically, the defense board wants better venting systems and real-time monitoring equipment on each tank. The nuclear safety watchdog says although Energy department officials do take the risks seriously, there has been no real progress and the “schedule for upgrades continues to slip.”

Hanford’s underground tanks are full of the sludge and a toxic brew leftover from plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War. Carrie Meyer, an Energy department spokeswoman, says her agency is looking into the matter.
