For what is it worth. Do you know why Fukushima continues to melt down despite water tanks, containment walls, foreign help etc. Japan has not repented from the event yet. The Tsunamis was a work of God from the bible Book of John Chapt 21 vs 11. Jesus told Peter to cast the net for fish and exactly 153 fish were caught without the net bursting. The numbers of the tsunamis were 3 waves and 50 feet high and going 100 miles an hour . This adds up to 100 and 50 and 3. This number when written out in Hebrew translates into " I AM GOD " I hope that the Japanese would cry out for help and in fact Prime Minister Shinzo Abe called for international help to deal with 3 coriums that have burnt through the floor of Units 1,3 and 4 and now is in direct contact with groundwater that drains into the Pacific Ocean. The only solution is get on our knees and repent to obtain God favour and then God will stop this environmental catastrophy. Unlikely though because this is a failed world where man does not realize that his control over his destiny amounts to what an ant has crawling along the floor if God is not with him. Japan, God corrects those whom he loves so what you are going through shows that God cares for you. I ask you God to have mercy on Japan and forgive them when they Japan has forgiven your people for retaking the holy land.

Tainted water leaks again at Fukushima Daiichi

Workers at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant have discovered a new leak of contaminated water, this time through a barrier that surrounds wastewater storage tanks.

The workers were inspecting tanks on Saturday when they found tainted water had leaked out of the barrier near the No.4 reactor. They tried to contain it with sandbags.

They reported finding a puddle of water 80 centimeters long and 100 centimeters wide beyond the barrier. Plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Company detected 140 becquerels per liter of radioactive strontium.

Rouhani: Iran won't give up uranium enrichment

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says his country will not give up its right to enrich uranium, rejecting international calls to limit the activity.

Rouhani told the parliament on Sunday that Iran will not answer to threats and sanctions, adding that uranium enrichment is one of the red lines that cannot be crossed.

His remarks came shortly after Iran and 6 world powers failed to reach an agreement to resolve a standoff over the country's nuclear program.

Fukushima water storage tanks flawed, workers say

TOKYO — When tons of radioactive water leaked from a storage tank at Fukushima’s crippled nuclear power plant and other containers hurriedly put up by the operator encountered problems, Yoshitatsu Uechi was not surprised. He wonders if one of the tanks he built will be next.

He’s an auto mechanic. He was a tour-bus driver for a while. He had no experience building tanks or working at a nuclear plant, but for six months last year, he was part of the team frantically trying to create new places for contaminated water to go.

Uechi and co-workers were under such pressure to build tanks quickly that they did not wait for dry conditions to apply anti-rust coating over bolts and around seams as they were supposed to; they did the work even in rain or snow. Sometimes the concrete foundation they laid for the tanks came out bumpy. Sometimes the workers saw tanks being used to store water before they were even finished.

“I must say our tank assembly was slipshod work. I’m sure that’s why tanks are leaking already,” Uechi, 48, told The Associated Press from his hometown on Okinawa. “I feel nervous every time an earthquake shakes the area.”

TEPCO plans to change drainage channel outlet heading to ocean

The operator of the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant said Monday it will build a new drainage channel as part of efforts to prevent toxic water from directly flowing into the Pacific Ocean when leaks occur at water storage tanks.

The new drainage channel will be built to direct toxic water to the plant's port, which is separated from the sea with breakwaters. The steps will be taken by the end of March, according to Tokyo Electric Power Co.

TEPCO decided on the move after it found in August that 300 tons of highly radioactive water had leaked from one of the tanks, part of which is believed to have flowed into the Pacific Ocean through existing drainage channels.

Luminant suspends nuclear plant expansion bid

DALLAS — The owner of a North Texas nuclear power plant has tabled its request for federal permission to expand.

Dallas-based Luminant Generation had asked the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for a license to double the number of nuclear reactors at its
Comanche Peak plant from two to four.

However, in a letter to the NRC on Friday, Luminant said its Japanese-based reactor partner had decided to focus on restoring nuclear power in Japan after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami led to a disaster at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries "has informed us that they will materially slow the development of their design control document for their new reactor design (for Comanche Peak) by several years. In addition, both (Mitsubishi) and Luminant understand the current economic reality of low Texas power prices driven in large part by the boom in natural gas," Luminant said in a corporate statement.

NRA finishes checks before fuel removal

Japan's nuclear watchdog has finished facility checks before the removal of nuclear fuel from a badly damaged reactor at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant.

Removing the fuel units is the first milestone in a decommissioning project that's estimated to take about 40 years. The plant's operator, Tokyo Electric Power Company, plans to decommission 4 damaged reactors.

The firm is preparing to remove 1,533 fuel units from a storage pool in the plant's No.4 reactor, which stores the most fuel units among the 4.

Koizumi: Japan should give up nuclear power now

Former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi says Japan should immediately give up nuclear power generation. He suggested that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe decide promptly on a zero nuclear policy.

Koizumi reiterated his opposition to nuclear energy at a news conference in Tokyo on Tuesday.

He rebutted criticism that he is irresponsible and overly optimistic for not offering an alternate energy plan. He said that what is most important in politics is to show a policy, and that if the government comes out with a policy of zero nuclear power, wise people will come up with good ideas.

On the timing of realizing zero reliance on nuclear power, Koizumi said he thinks immediately would be good.

For many Fukushima evacuees, the truth is they won't be going home

IWAKI — For many of Japan’s oldest nuclear refugees, all they want is to be allowed back to the homes they were forced to abandon. Others are ready to move away, severing ties to the ghost towns that remain in the shadow of the wrecked Fukushima nuclear plant.

But among the thousands of evacuees stuck in temporary housing more than two and a half years after the nuclear accident, there is a shared understanding on one point - Japan’s government is unable to deliver on its ambitious initial goals for cleaning up the areas that had to be evacuated after the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami disaster.

“You can’t have a temporary life forever,” said Ichiro Kazawa, 61, whose home was destroyed by the tsunami that also knocked out power to the Fukushima plant.

Kazawa escaped four minutes before the first wave. Next year, he hopes to return to a home within sight of the Fukushima plant and take his 88-year-old mother back. But he wants the government to admit what many evacuees have already accepted - for many there will be no going home as planned.

“I think it will be easier for people who can’t go back anyway to be told that so they can plan their future,” said Kazawa, who remains unemployed.

Failure of Fitness for Duty program identified at VC Summer nuclear site

An investigation of the Fitness for Duty program launched this week at the VC Summer nuclear power plant in South Carolina found a serious violation at the Unit 2 and Unit 3 construction site.

On November 5th, a contractor who services vending machines at the construction site used another contracted employee’s access badge to gain entry to the construction site, after being denied access with his badge. The contracted employee was in the presence of a security officer during this process, but was not stopped from gaining access.

MILLSTONE: AUTOMATIC REACTOR TRIP DUE TO LOSS OF CONDENSER VACUUM

Millstone Unit 2 automatically tripped following a turbine trip due to a loss of condenser vacuum. The loss of vacuum was caused by the trip of the "C" circ water pump with the "D" circ water pump out of service. The licensee is still investigating the trip of the "C" circ water pump. The MSIVs are open with steam generators discharging steam to the main condenser. Auxiliary feedwater automatically started as expected following the reactor trip.

All rods fully inserted and there were no complications following the reactor trip. All systems functioned as required and the unit is stable in Mode 3.

THE ASAHI SHIMBUN

A record high level of 710,000 becquerels of beta-ray sources, such as radioactive strontium, was detected per liter of water in an observation well at the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant.

The previous high reading of 550,000 becquerels per liter was found in water sampled Nov. 9 at the same well.
TEPCO said a new leak from the tank has not been confirmed. It said leaked radioactive water that has remained in the soil likely spread to the well.

Robot pinpoints leaks on Fukushima reactor

A robot at the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant has for the first time identified exactly where highly radioactive water is leaking from a reactor.

Plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Company, or TEPCO, on Wednesday succeeded in sending a remote-controlled robot close to the lower part of the No.1 reactor's containment vessel.

A camera on the robot captured images of water leaking from 2 holes in the containment vessel into the building housing the reactor.

Radiation levels in the area were extremely high at 0.9 to 1.8 sieverts an hour.
