If a cable was cut why would it increase in small increments over many days? Why wouldn't it quit working altogether? If it was intermittent the reading would go up and down with the current received.

I think they are full of it. We will know sooner or later.

Arnie is saying the cesium in the pollen in the cedar buds will cause background radiation to rise to up to 100 times that of tokyo when it starts blowing around.

Thay are allowing the incineration of radioactive debris as long as the ash is below 4000 disintegrations..

They are mixing clean material with the highly radioactive debris when they burn so the concentrations stay below the 4000d limit.

Instead of keeping it concentrated and dealing with that, they are creating tons of additional radioactive material which must be disposed of in a much larger area.

We already know it is being dumped in Tokyo Bay and the river, as well as being buried in landfills in prefectures all over Japan. Cesium now being found in Tokyo Bay ~b

Most of the incinerators in Japan do not use the modern electrostatic filters to trap emissions. The contamination is getting into the air, air levels rising.

One of the MEXT charts I posted earlier shows an extreme jump in cesium emissions on the 11th~b

Iodine 133 -gone in 2 days- major contributer to thyroid problems in children. Not measured because it was gone so fast.

Scientist was appalled by his findings.

Xenon and Krypton cloud over US was 40,000 times higher than normal. Can't imagine what it was in Fuku.

Xenon becomes cesium, Krypton becomes strontium. The reason they look for cesium above the other emissions- gives off gamma. Others harder to detect.. alpha.

Touched on the fact that people unknowingly evacuated into higher emission plume areas than they had left because the .go v did not inform the public. SPEEDI was not activated.... Which we already knew. Those people(schools, hospitals, residents) got hosed ~b

Dr. Caldicott(Pediatrician) said not taking bioptic samples of the lumps in the thyroids of children affected was irresponsible medicine.

Arnie criticized the Frontline article.

More on interview...

~

Arnie and Dr. C are confirming many of our previous statements.

Japan Official Faults Nuke Design, Defends Secrecy
[link to www.manufacturing.net]

(snip)

Kondo, a longtime advocate of atomic technology as clean energy, acknowledged the design of Fukushima Dai-ichi had been faulty.

It failed in crucial "venting," to release pressure and prevent explosions, spreading radiation into the environment in what Kondo likened to the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.

Kondo had erroneously expected problems at a Japan plant to be like the Three Mile Island accident, where radiation leakage was limited.

"That was our biggest mistake," he said.

Fukushima at increased earthquake risk
[link to samidexson.posterous.com]

(snip)

Seismic risk at the Fukushima nuclear plant increased after the magnitude 9 earthquake that hit Japan last March, scientists report. The new study, which uses data from over 6,000 earthquakes, shows the 11 March tremor caused a seismic fault close to the nuclear plant to reactivate. The results are now published in Solid Earth, an open-access journal of the European Geosciences Union (EGU).

The number of earthquakes in Iwaki increased greatly after the March earthquake. The movements in the Earth's crust induced by the event caused variations in the seismic pressure or stress of nearby faults. Around Iwaki, Japan's seismic network recorded over 24,000 tremors from 11 March 2011 to 27 October 2011, up from under 1,300 detected quakes in the nine years before, the scientists report.

While the scientists can't predict when an earthquake in Fukushima Daiichi will occur, they state that the ascending fluids observed in the area indicate that such an event is likely to occur in the near future. They warn that more attention should be paid to the site's ability to withstand strong earthquakes, and reduce the risk of another nuclear disaster.

US, N Korea to hold nuclear talks in Beijing
The United States says US and North Korean officials will hold talks on the North's nuclear program in Beijing on February 23rd.

US State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said in Washington on Monday that US special representative on North Korean policy Glyn Davies will meet North Korea's First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye Gwan in China's capital.

They will be the first such talks since the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il. The last bilateral meeting was held in Geneva in October.

Govt and TEPCO play tug-of-war over voting rights
Difficult negotiations between the Japanese government and the operator of the tsunami-hit nuclear plant over voting rights of the company will soon begin in earnest.

Tokyo Electric Power Company wants the government to have less say over the funds it provides the firm.

Industry minister Yukio Edano told TEPCO President Toshio Nishizawa on Monday the government would not accept the company's business revival plan unless it gets adequate voting rights. The plan includes an injection of public funds to boost the firm's finances.

Geothermal power plants may be allowed in parks
A panel of Japan's Environment Ministry has come up with a basic plan to conditionally allow geothermal power generation in national parks.

Japan is thought to have the world's 3rd-largest geothermal resources thanks to its many regions of volcanic activity. But development of the resources is lagging, as 80 percent is in national parks where such development is restricted.

NHK poll: 22 percent approve restart of reactors
An NHK poll shows that just over 20 percent of people surveyed support restarting the dozens of idled nuclear reactors in Japan.

NHK carried out the telephone survey over the weekend. About 1,000 people responded.

22 percent said they support restarting the reactors. 36 percent were opposed. Another 36 percent were undecided.

Of course, Tepco could be right: the thermometer could be broken. But I am not yet convinced, given that – ever since the earthquake last year – Tepco has repeatedly claimed that an instrument is broken whenever there is a new reading of things gone haywire. (Indeed, one Japanese writer said that Tepco’s spokesman sounded “testy” when asked how Tepco knew that the thermometer was broken.)

In good news, a second, nearby 4-reactor nuclear complex which almost melted down last March – the Fukushima Daini complex (referred to as the Fukushima “2″ complex), which is 7 miles away from the infamous, leaking 6-reactor Fukushima Daiichi complex – apparently is in a true state of cold shutdown.

This writer's assumption of February 7 seems now confirmed by TEPCO, who are now saying that the high-reading instrument near the bottom of the reactor vessel at their 1F-2 plant is likely failed. The detector has failed a resistance check performed by TEPCO, meaning that the indication is confirmed incorrect.

What you are not supposed to know:
[link to nuclear-news.net]

(snip)

It doesn’t take an accident for a nuclear power plant to release radioactivity into our air, water and soil. All it takes is the plant’s everyday routine operation, and federal regulations permit these radioactive releases…

.Government regulations allow radioactive water to be released to the environment containing “permissible” levels of contamination. Permissible does not mean safe.Detectors at reactors are set to allow contaminated water to be released, unfiltered, if below “permissible” legal levels.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission relies upon self-reporting and computer modeling from reactor operators to track radioactive releases and their projected dispersion. A significant portion of the environmental monitoring data is extrapolated – virtual, not real.Accurate accounting of all radioactive wastes released to the air, water and soil from the entire reactor fuel production system is simply not available.

M6 quake hits eastern Japan; Fukushima nuclear plant stable
[link to www.japantoday.com]

(snip)

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 6.0 magnitude quake, with an epicenter 10 kilometers deep, was centered 166 kilometers east-northeast of Tokyo, where correspondents said buildings swayed.

Japan’s meteorological agency also located the quake off the coast of Ibaraki Prefecture, south of the stricken plant.

Japan, located at the junction of four tectonic plates, experiences 20% of the strongest quakes recorded on Earth each year.

As for the other, it makes too much sense. Natural heat. Volcanic. Solar. I can start a fire with a magnifying glass. If I had a large enough glass I could heat water. Focused lenses could heat a lot of water.
