Cracks found in seabed off Japan coast

Images taken by the Shinkai 6500 and provided by the agency show a crack about 20 centimeters wide and several dozen meters long at a depth of about 3,200 meters off Miyagi Prefecture, dubbed Site 2.

At Site 1, the northernmost of the three sites, about 180 kilometers off Iwate Prefecture, a crack one meter wide and 80 centimeters long was found at a depth of 5,350 meters.
