Chrit User ID: 1302953 United States 10/31/2011 03:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I read back and did not see this posted. This is one of the most telling storys I have heard yet. Sorry if it was posted already, I dident see it. THE SPENT FUEL POOL HAD NEW 204 NEW FUEL RODS. From the artical: Tepco has announced that there are 1,331 spent fuel rods in the pool of reactor 4. However, 10/14/2011, Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency announced that the pool contained 204 units of new fuel rods as well. The melted fuel rods are estimated to have reached 2,800 C and started to melt down some 7.7 hours later. [link to fukushima-diary.com] So to sum it up: brand new fule rods were stored in a open pool above reactor number 4. The new fuel quickley reached 2600celsius. That is twice the temperature of Magma! This story gets better eveyday, do you think they forgot where the new fuel rods were stored? No they knew full well how bad this realy was in the first 24 hours and they said nothing. Magma is a complex high-temperature fluid substance. Temperatures of most magmas are in the range 700 °C to 1300 °C [link to en.wikipedia.org] I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw. We must all realize a sink a chair and a pillow are all luxuries of home and a soldiers helmet takes the place of all three. |
