Re: *** Fukushima *** and other nuclear-----updates and links
I read back and did not see this posted. This is one of the most telling storys I have heard yet. Sorry if it was posted already, I dident see it.

THE SPENT FUEL POOL HAD NEW 204 NEW FUEL RODS.

From the artical: Tepco has announced that there are 1,331 spent fuel rods in the pool of reactor 4.

However, 10/14/2011, Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency announced that the pool contained 204 units of new fuel rods as well.

The melted fuel rods are estimated to have reached 2,800 C and started to melt down some 7.7 hours later.

[link to fukushima-diary.com]

So to sum it up: brand new fule rods were stored in a open pool above reactor number 4. The new fuel quickley reached 2600celsius. That is twice the temperature of Magma!

This story gets better eveyday, do you think they forgot where the new fuel rods were stored?

No they knew full well how bad this realy was in the first 24 hours and they said nothing.

Magma is a complex high-temperature fluid substance. Temperatures of most magmas are in the range 700 °C to 1300 °C

... from the same post in a reply, there was a statement that "new" was only in the sense that it was freshly OUT of the reactor... not new as in brand-new.... interesting.... still a huge worry....

An emergency citizen’s conference was held on 10/24/2011.

It was a discussion about how to deal with the radioactive debris and sewage sludge from Fukushima.

In this discussion, the fact that two sludge disposal facilities workers died all of a sudden only in two weeks in October was leaked by a worker at a sewage farm in Chiba.

Japan lawmaker drinks water from Fukushima plant

A Japanese lawmaker has drunk a glass of water taken from a radioactive puddle inside a reactor building at the stricken Fukushima nuclear plant in a bid to prove decontamination efforts are working.

Television footage showed a visibly nervous Yasuhiro Sonoda gulping down water that he said had been decontaminated after being scooped up from inside the plant.
