New Arnie Video

TEPCO recently discovered hydrogen buildups within the containment buildings in Fukushima Units 1, 2 and 3. Could there be another explosion, and if so how? Fairewinds conducts a laboratory experiment to show that if oxygen is present with hydrogen in a nuclear power containment, a deflagration explosion might occur.

Yomiuri Calls Cold Shutdown Inaccurate

The Daily Yomiuri explains why the claims of cold shutdown clearly do not in any way meet what is going on at Fukushima Daiichi. They also raise valid concerns about the situation of the melted fuel and the lack of any real knowledge of its location.

“It is questionable to assess the situation as nearly a cold shutdown. Usually, to achieve a cold shutdown, all fuel rods should be cooled under water, and nuclear fuel, pressure and containment vessels should be intact and in good condition.“

Im afraid "waterbug" has departed.

Its all been going on so long.

And news is too slow.

Soon the "truth" will come out. I have said before, that the "micro" readings will turn to "mille" readings before long this will happen. Allready the readings on land and in the sea have doubled and tripled.

The true amount of sickness and death wont really be shown for many months yet as the Japanese government try to hang on.

But the doctors and nurses will know allready. So they will be the source to go for.

The "situation" is so dire, so grave, so absolutely catasrophic, that the Japanese government is doing all it can to both "play down" the "incident" at the same time as release "information" that shows they are being "open".

When someone is not telling the whole truth, and we know it, we can only speculate as to why they are not being fruitful with the truth.....And as the Japanese have this custom of not telling the truth in order to not cause "anxiety"....We can thus speculate that the truth is something we probably wish we never knew.........

Just as space is "big, really big.."

So too is "fukushima, bad, really bad...."

Yes, this is really bad. No, I don't think Waterbug has departed. I bet he is just taking a well deserved rest. He has been researching since March, I'm sure a break is well deserved.

I'm watching, got a friend who lived 50 miles north of FUKU with a 3 month old baby when it blew, she's in the states now. She appreciates all the updates...

I don't know if she will ever be able to go home.

TEPCO: Radioactive strontium leaked into the sea
The operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant says about 150 liters of radioactive contaminated water, containing radioactive strontium, has leaked into the sea.

The Tokyo Electric Power Company found on Sunday that massive amounts of radioactive water had leaked from a desalination device. It said that up to 300 liters of radioactive water leaked out from cracks in the foundation of the building which contains the device.

Test to see safety of mountainside nuclear plants
Japanese engineers have carried out an experiment to check the safety of nuclear power plants located near mountain slopes.

The government-backed Japan Nuclear Energy Safety Organization has been testing the safety of the country's nuclear power plants, which are often built on narrow parts of coastal land carved from surrounding mountains.

In Tuesday's experiment at a research facility in Miki city, Hyogo Prefecture, engineers created a 3.8-meter-high slope using about 200 tons of rock and soil.

They then artificially made the slope shake on the same wave length as the 2007 earthquake off Niigata Prefecture, central Japan.

The organization says 9 nuclear plants, or more than half of all nuclear plants across Japan, are located near such mountain slopes.

Powdered milk makers to boost radioactivity tests
Japanese dairy companies are tightening tests on their products, after radioactive cesium was detected in powdered milk made by the major Japanese food company Meiji.

Meiji announced on Tuesday that radioactive cesium was found in samples of powdered milk for infants. The product was processed at a plant near Tokyo in March, after the nuclear accident in Fukushima Prefecture.

Kansai Electric reactor shut down at Mihama
The operator of the Mihama nuclear power plant in western Japan says it has shut down one of 3 reactors because of an ongoing leak of radioactive water within the reactor.

Kansai Electric Power Company says work began on Wednesday night to manually shut down the number-2 reactor at Mihama in Fukui Prefecture. It was completed as of 4 AM on Thursday.

The utility says radioactive water has been leaking from a valve in the pressure vessel into the collection tank since early November. It says there is a risk that the water will exceed the processing capacity of the tank.

Radioactive ash returned from Akita
Akita Prefecture in northern Japan has begun to return radioactive ash from the incineration of garbage to the prefecture the ash was sent from. The ash had been brought to Akita from 10 municipalities in 6 prefectures located near Tokyo.

Because of the opposition of residents living near the garbage incineration plants, the prefecture has decided to return the radioactive ash to the municipalities of origin.
On Wednesday, about 18 tons of ash was sent from Akita to Saitama Prefecture.
