I need to correct my Statement,
in my Theory it was not really right!

But EX-SKF posted today:
Yokohama City Stopped Using Zeolite after Only One Month at Its Final Disposal Site on Tokyo Bay

Yokohama City, which has been dumping the radioactive ashes with low radioactivity from burning household garbage at its final disposal landfill (Minami Honmoku) on Tokyo Bay since September last year, has said the runoff water is safely treated by the cesium absorption towers with zeolite.

Well they lied. They used the absorption towers for one month and stopped using them, but never bothered to tell they stopped using them.

In one month, they used 5500 kilograms of zeolite, which absorbed 5000 becquerels/kg of radioactive cesium. In other words, 27.5 million becquerels of radioactive cesium was effectively caught. So the city thought "Oh that's good", and stopped using zeolite.

My fear isn't losing the luxuries of life, even toilet paper, lol. My fear is that without power we lose our ability to keep all these killer nuclear plants cooled.

400 Chernobyls: Solar Flares, EMP, and Nuclear Armageddon-

There are nearly 450 nuclear reactors in the world, with hundreds more either under construction or in the planning stages. There are 104 of these reactors in the USA and 195 in Europe. Imagine what havoc it would wreak on our civilization and the planet’s ecosystems if we were to suddenly witness not just one or two nuclear melt-downs but 400 or more! How likely is it that our world might experience an event that could ultimately cause hundreds of reactors to fail and melt down at approximately the same time? I venture to say that, unless we take significant protective measures, this apocalyptic scenario is not only possible but probable.

Thanks, SO. This is the pressing issue aside from spent fuel disposal and storage.

We may be able to withstand and survive Fuku but multiple meltdowns all over the globe would saturate the atmosphere to the point of an ELE.

Man-made mechanical systems can and will fail at the worst time. Nuclear tech is not immune to failure. Add
unforseeable natural disasters and you have a recipe for catastrophe.

We are sitting on the precipice of an armageddon of our own design. When will we overcome our arrogance?

Futaba Town asks TEPCO to compensate damage
Futaba Town, Fukushima Prefecture, has demanded that the operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant pay about 211 million dollars as compensation for damage caused to the township.

Mayor Katsutaka Idogawa on Thursday handed an invoice to Naomi Hirose, managing director of Tokyo Electric Power Company, at a makeshift town hall inside an evacuation center in Saitama Prefecture.

Quake focus to be shallower than estimated
A government team of earthquake experts says an expected powerful earthquake in northern Tokyo Bay would have a focus shallower than earlier estimated.

The shallower the focus, the stronger the estimated quake. The team says the quake would register 7 on the Japanese seismic scale of zero to 7.

The group, which includes scientists from the University of Tokyo, released on Wednesday a report after a five-year study commissioned by the government.

Jaczko: NRC might not meet deadline to impose nuke safety reforms
[link to thehill.com]

[snip]

Jaczko has clashed with his fellow colleagues over how quickly the commission should implement the new rules. Some commissioners have called for a cost-benefit analysis of each recommendation.
Jaczko said Wednesday that he disagreed with the need to conduct such analyses, noting that both the federal task force and NRC staff have said that implementation of the rules should not be affected by cost.

“I believe, consistent with what the staff of the agency has recommended, that these changes are necessary to prevent a Fukushima-type accident,” Jaczko said.

As I previously stated, I get a multitude of articles from diverse parts of the world and then form my own opinion. That is what it is. An opinion. No lies. No disinfo campaign.

How can you accuse me of lies or disinformation when it is you who repeatedly obfuscates?

To say my arguments are tiny is to attempt to intimidate me. Won't work.

Decontamination starts at Fukushima main roads
Work has started to reduce levels of radiation on roads inside some evacuation zones around the troubled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. The work is part of government efforts to allow some evacuees to return home in the near future.

Media were invited to watch the work being carried out by the government on a road around the Naraha Town Hall on Thursday. They saw workers using water jets managing to reduce radiation levels by about 80 percent.

Survey: Most municipalities wary of nuclear plant
An NHK survey has found that nearly 80 percent of municipalities hosting or located near nuclear power plants are wary about resuming operations at reactors that are offline for regular inspections.

The survey covered 20 prefectures and 122 cities, towns and villages not in Fukushima Prefecture. Each municipality is within 30 kilometers of a nuclear power plant.

Only 3 of the municipalities, or 2 percent, said they would give the go-ahead for resuming reactor operations. 12 percent said they would eventually.

Nuclear disaster taskforce minutes compiled
The government has released pieced-together minutes from its task force meetings after the crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant began on March 11th of last year.

On that day, the earthquake and tsunami knocked out external power and disabled the plant's backup generators. Then Prime Minister Naoto Kan declared a state of emergency at the nuclear plant, and presided over the first meeting of the task force on the evening of March 11th. But it was recently discovered that no minutes of that or subsequent meetings had been taken.

We have to be ready to respond.” The incident, triggered by the impact of an earthquake and tsunami, showed the need for nuclear authorities worldwide to re-evaluate their safety procedures, said the institute’s chief executive, Dr Ann McGarry. There was “no room for complacency within the international nuclear industry”. “A nuclear accident anywhere has potential to be a nuclear accident everywhere.” The radioactive particles that reached Ireland were similar to those arriving as nuclear fallout here after the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster in 1986, according to data from the institute. The monitoring stations detected radioactive Iodine-131 and two forms of radioactive Caesium, Cs-137 and Cs-134.

High levels of cesium found at former nuclear lab outside L.A.
[link to mdn.mainichi.jp]

[snip]

The data, provided to local residents in February as an interim report by the Environmental Protection Agency, which is examining the extent of contamination in the area, show that radioactive cesium measured up to about 7,300 becquerels per kilogram of soil, or nearly 1,000 times the benchmark used by the agency.

The area was decontaminated after the nuclear accident, and the U.S. Department of Energy, which was dealing with research there, declared in the 1980s that the land could now be used as farmland or for residential purposes.

The decision to conduct a detailed study was made in December 2010 after strong demands were lodged by local residents who have expressed health concerns for a long time.

The lab has also been known for its sloppy management of hazardous materials, having incinerated radioactive waste in an open yard at the site for two decades.

Fukushima Could Have Been Prevented
[link to www.nytimes.com]

[snip]

Yet, despite Japan’s history of tsunamis, the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency, Japan’s nuclear regulator, did not apply those standards. It failed to review studies of tsunami risks performed by the plant’s owner, Tokyo Electric Power, known as Tepco. It also failed to ensure the development of tsunami-modeling tools compliant with international standards.

Tepco was also negligent. It knew of geological evidence that the region surrounding the plant had been periodically flooded about once every thousand years. In 2008, it performed computer simulations suggesting that a repeat of the devastating earthquake of 869 would lead to a tsunami that would inundate the plant. Yet it did not adequately follow up on either of these leads.

March 11, One Year On: Radioactive Pollen?
[link to blogs.wsj.com]

[snip]

The bottom line, according to the government: This year’s radioactive pollen won’t be hazardous to health. Although the survey did find some extremely high levels – especially from sugi in the town of Namie in Fukushima, inside the no-go zone – the Forestry Agency concluded that by the time the pollen got through the noses of the populace, the level of exposure would be very low.

If all the pollen floating through this year’s hay-fever season was contaminated at the peak level found, a person’s accumulated exposure from that would still only be 0.000553 millisieverts – about one-hundredth the level of a chest X-ray, the government found.

Just to be sure, a coalition of scientists called the Japan Geoscience Union is conducting its own measurements of pollen count and radiation levels, as the season progresses.

The government’s conclusion? “If you’re concerned, wear a mask,” says Mr. Yamaguchi.

Yeah. Small amount. No worries. A little here, a little there...
