if they are still using liquid nitrogen,
i believe it is sure and certain proof that
they are using it to cool the corium.

(liquid nitrogen could also be used to avert a
hydrogen explosion (in an inclosed building), but that's
unlikely for obvious reasons.)

Food over new limit for radioactive cesium
Following the introduction of new safety regulations in Japan, several types of food have been found to contain radioactive cesium above the legal limit.

Stricter health standards for staple foods such as vegetables and rice were introduced on Sunday. Permissible levels of radioactivity were reduced from 500 to 100 becquerels per kilogram.

Health ministry officials said bamboo shoots harvested in the Kisarazu and Ichihara regions east of Tokyo were contaminated with 120 and 110 becquerels of radioactive Cesium per kilogram respectively.

radioactive Cesium and Iodine only have a half-life
of 10 days, or so. which means that all of the corium
at Fukushima has to still be boiling up a storm with vapors
carrying the Cesium and Iodine into the wind currents...

Cs-137 has a half-life of about 30 years...

Radioactive water from Fukushima power plant may have flowed into the Pacific Ocean

ABOUT 12 tonnes of radioactive water has leaked at Japan's crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, with the facility's operator saying some may have flowed into the Pacific Ocean.
Tokyo Electric Power Company said the leak was found early today from a pipe attached to a temporary decontamination system.
The water had already gone through part of the cleansing process.
After the water is used to cool the reactors it contains significant amounts of radioactive substances.
It is then put into the water-processing facility so it can be recycled for use as coolant.
"Our officials confirmed that cooling water leaked at a joint in the pipes," a TEPCO spokesman said, adding "it is possible that part of the water may have flowed outside the facility and poured into the ocean."
The leak has been plugged and the utility was investigating the cause of the accident and how much, if any, water flowed into the Pacific, the spokesman said.
The accident was the latest of several leaks of radioactive water at the troubled plant, undermining the government's claim made in December that the shuttered Fukushima reactors were now under control.
In one incident last month, about 120 tonnes of radioactive water leaked at the plant's water decontamination system and about 80 litres seeped into the ocean, according to TEPCO.
The plant about 220km northeast of Tokyo was crippled by meltdowns and explosions caused by Japan's massive earthquake and tsunami in March last year.
Radiation was scattered over a large area and made its way into the sea, air and food chain in the weeks and months after the disaster.
Tens of thousands of people were evacuated from their homes around the plant and swathes of this zone remain badly polluted.
The clean-up is proceeding slowly, amid warnings that some towns could be uninhabitable for three decades.

Strontium at Fukushima plant flows into sea
Tokyo Electric Power Company says more radioactive wastewater has leaked from its Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant and flowed into the sea. The water contained high levels of strontium.

Workers at the plant discovered water leaking from a pipe connected to a wastewater tank, at around 2:00 AM on Thursday.

Workers shut valves, and the flow stopped about half an hour later.

Farmers to be allowed to keep survived livestock

Japan's government is partially reversing an order to slaughter all livestock within 20 kilometer radius of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

Some farmers will now be allowed to spare animals that survived in the no-entry zone, on condition that they are not shipped.

The government previously ordered animals in the zone to be slaughtered with the consent of farmers. But, some municipalities are feeding about 700 cattle after their owners refused the slaughter order.
