YEa we may live with nuke reactors.., but at least we're not so stupefied as to build them on fault lines that can produce 9.0+ mag quakes with Tsunamis.

And the Jap government did it all out of greed, admit it, you know its true.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1546575

Hmmmm, but there was no active Fault-line under Daiichi,
the Epicenter was far away, deep in the Sea!

And none of the British Plants is equipped to handle
any form of Disaster!

You should do like the Japanese and demand a Check-Up,
you may learn something from here!

Radiation found outside Japanese schools
[link to www.upiasia.com]

[snip]

Radiation hot spots were recorded outside 26 schools in the same prefecture as the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, a civil group said Sunday.

The results of those tests showed at least 14 elementary schools, seven junior high schools and five nursery schools had hot spots where the cumulative annual radiation dose could reach 20 millisieverts, or more than 3.8 microsieverts per hour.

When the new academic year began in April, the education board lifted a restriction that students play in schoolyards for less than 3 hours per day in the wake of the nuclear disaster last year.

TEPCO to have new president
Tokyo Electric Power Company will have a new president, promoting an executive in charge of compensation for victims of the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

TEPCO plans to select managing director Naomi Hirose as the next president at a board meeting on Tuesday.

The 59-year-old Hirose will officially replace current chief Toshio Nishizawa in June after the company gains approval from shareholders.

Fukui assemblymen to be briefed on reactors
The assembly of Fukui Prefecture has agreed to hold a briefing on the Japanese government's plan to restart 2 reactors at the Ohi nuclear power plant on Wednesday.

This will be the first time that all the members of the assembly will meet to discuss whether to approve restarting the reactors.

They will hear from Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency officials about the new safety guidelines that have been drawn up.

Fukushima conducts unannounced tsunami drill
The government of Fukushima has conducted a surprise tsunami drill to make sure that prefectural workers are ready in the event of another disaster.

The drill on Monday was based on the scenario in which a massive tsunami triggered by a powerful earthquake hit the disabled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

Most of the workers were not given prior notice about the drill. It was rare that such a type of unannounced drill was held before last year's March 11th disaster.

Radiation Levels in Japan Higher Than Reported
[link to www.fukushima311watchdogs.org]

[snip]

According to the numbers released by [Japan Gov't] the amounts in a town called Nihonmatsu are 300,000 becquerels per square meter. Never the less this has not designated as evacuation site. The current measurements of the soil there are showing 12 mega [million] becquerels per square meter. But what’s happening is the people are just carrying out their lives as normal. This is one piece of evidence showing how the government is under-measuring the radiation.T his fact has not been reported by the Japanese mass media.

More tsunami debris from Japan crosses the Pacific
People on the west coast of North America are becoming concerned about the arrival of debris from last year's earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

A massive amount of waste from houses and other structures swept away by the tsunami has crossed the Pacific and reached the coast of Canada and the United States.

Last month, a motorcycle from Miyagi Prefecture was found on Graham Island off the coast of British Columbia. Styrofoam, insulation materials and other unusual items have been washing ashore.

Local assembly slams reactor restart
A prefectural assembly in central Japan has unanimously adopted a statement saying the state must win residents' support before resuming commercial operation of nearby nuclear reactors.

Gifu Prefectural assembly adopted the statement on Tuesday, in response to the central government's plan to restart reactors at the Ohi plant in adjacent Fukui Prefecture.

New sea wall erected to guard Onagawa nuclear plant against tsunami
A new sea wall has recently been erected at the Onagawa nuclear power plant in Miyagi Prefecture to guard the seaside complex against possible tsunami and was shown to local assembly members on Tuesday.

The sea wall, built in the wake of the nuclear disaster in nearby Fukushima Prefecture triggered by the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami, is about 3 meters tall, effectively making it a 17-meter sea wall given that it is built on ground about 14 meters above sea level.

We have been in a heap of trouble since March 17th of 2011, when the plume of radioactive materials began bombarding the west coast of California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. And later Maine, Europe, and everywhere in between. Independent researchers, nuke experts, and scientists, from oceanography to entomology and everywhere in between, having been trying to sound the alarm ever since. Cesium-137 at the Fukushima Daiichi site is 85 times greater than at Chernobyl. The most preliminary reports of soil contamination are starting to come in from the USGS, who has been reluctant to share this information. Los Angeles, California, Portland, Oregon, and Boulder, Colorado, so far have the highest radioactive particle contamination out of the entire US. Every single city tested across the country showed contamination from Fukushima. What is even more alarming about the numbers coming in, is that they are from samples taken April 5th, of last year.
