Seafood caught off Fukushima coast sold outside prefecture

The seafood was caught off the coast of Soma, Fukushima Prefecture.

After last year's Fukushima nuclear accident, fishing cooperatives in Fukushima Prefecture had refrained from going out to sea. However, the Soma-Futaba fishing cooperative began a trial fishing operation in June for three types of seafood.

The octopus and sea snails caught until now had gone on sale in Fukushima Prefecture after tests found no radioactive materials had contaminated the seafood.
